What are some objectively bad video games that you feel have a lot of potential to be good if they were giving a remake?

What do you see in a DMC2 remake that isn’t just a completely different game? The mechanics are OK, and I think combat could largely be fixed with more interesting enemies, but the scenario, maps, and story are all pretty unsalvageable imo.

The first map is pretty vibey I guess, but Bayonetta kinda already ate that lunch.

inb4 post removed due to rule #8, but my gamer body craves a Resistance Trilogy remake. Also Jet Force Gemini deserves a proper reboot at some point.

(the mods on this sub don’t like when you post questions with an image basically)

This and Chaos Legion need total remake.

    Thunder Force VI

Many people here probably don’t know this title. First of all, if they get rid of Okano, gather the former Techno Soft staff, and jointly develop it with Sega and Treasure, they will surely be able to create something great.

I think there’s a good game hidden in DMC2, but it’s all in the Lucia disc and would require some dramatic overhauls. It would only feature Dante as a guest star. No one would buy it.

The Bloody Roar games easily for me.

Final Fight: Streetwise. Let it stay bad, I just wanna see it with better graphics.

Neopets: The Darkest Faerie (released on the PS2) is really ambitious for it’s time and has a lot of really cool ideas but it’s all sadly dragged down by a snubbed combat system, long walk times between missions and a lack of information on enemies in the game for how to properly utilize the elemental motes, it’s also a bit buggy. It was also never released outside the US apparently which is a shame I’m sure a lot of folks overseas would of enjoyed it at least a bit.

It is actually an open world adventure action game and has really efficient load zones for it’s open environments with no pop-in at all and it keeps it all seamless without many black screens aside from when you enter a building and it’s done even better than something like Grand Theft Auto and has a world many times larger than Jak and Daxter while still maintaining good quality all around. It’s honestly a technical anomaly and I’m still impressed by it to this day what they were able to do with that game on the PS2 of all things.

With some improvements made to travel, an overhauled combat system, maybe more meaningful side quests sprinkled in it could of been a cult classic.

Guardians Crusade, Digimon World 3 and Skies of Arcadia. Love these games but they need some rework.

DMC2 is pretty much unsalvageable. The map layouts and bosses and combat and story are all so bad compared to DMC1 and 3.

Gta 1-3 remaster but actually remastered.

  12. this game is horrible 😭 worst in the series by far

Clive Barker’s Jericho. But finish it this time. The game has many problems, one of them beign ending that goes nowhere(cause it was supposed to be a trilogy) And I absolutely love this game. One of my favourite “bad” games. This game really needed more time in the oven and I always wondered how it would be if it got it.

I agree with DMC2, even though it would need much more care. It would need a reimagination and some major plot tweaks

The story is minimal, combat is lazy trash, level design sucks, graphics are somehow worse than DMC1 overall

The combat is literally just shooting most of the time, 0 special attack moves, and enemy design is…..i dont want to talk about it (Looking at you Trismagia)

The only good things were the soundtrack and Dante’s look. Also some things like Trish gameplay were genuinely pretty fun so there’s that.

The devil trigger concept in that game was pretty cool with you swapping what it is able to do and it brought things like Bloody Palace to the franchise. It had some nice ideas but they all sucked because of the other things just not being enjoyable

After all I said, I still got the fucking platinum on the game and love it in a weird way 😀

    Not necessarily bad ones but:
    – Driver 1 or 2

    – Syphon filter

    – Digimon World

    – Jackie Chan Stuntmaster

Sonic 06. Except Project 06 already did that, so unless SEGA wants to adopt that officially in some capacity…

I’ll go with Shenmue 3. Even though it’s not necessarily THAT bad compared to a lot of titles others would put here, I think that unlike those games, this one is actually salvageable.

First of all, the combat needs a completely overhaul. It doesn’t have to be based on Virtua Fighter like the first two were, but it should play more like a proper fighting game without the absurd input delay the game has. Second, decimate the grinding. I don’t mind training and practically learning your moves and how to apply them in a real fight is actually great, but grinding out exercises is tedious and boring, and it being a requirement to improve your HP and Attack makes the game a slog.

On top of that the economy is in shambles in this game and you shouldn’t have to grind out menial tasks or gamble for how little it pays out, even gaming the market for easier cash later in the game bored me to tears. It’s not fun to do these assorted tasks like it was before because now it’s tied to how grindy the game feels in general.

Finally, just take the game’s plot just a little further than where it ended. 1 ends perfectly for how it sets up the sequel, and 2 had a climactic encounter on top of a more chilled out exploration segment afterwards to cool off and ease into the credits. 3 has an…anticlimactic end after hours of basically nothing really happening and having found out very little about the overall plot. Improve the encounter with Lan Di and maybe have a more reflective segment on the Great Wall at the end and the finale suddenly would feel much more satisfying.

For years I thought it was Devil MAN cry,

  18. DedeLionforce

Hydlide. But like ORIGINAL Hydlide not that 3D trash.

  19. ScottyWritesStuff

    Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor.

Had great potential and clearly a lot of thought but the Kinect completely ruined it. Now that we have stuff like VR though, it’d probably have a much better chance at becoming popular.

Not necessarily bad per se, but some really old games: King’s Field and Nightmare Creatures.

Honestly some days I just want to play Digimon world for the first time again. It clears any pokemon by a mile. And I’m still mad at my older brother for selling that memory card, I needed 3 Digimon to 100% that game.

  22. Mattock79

Anthem. The flight and look of the game was awesome. Most everything else…. not so much
