VGA is an even flimsier port, so flimsy in fact that it needed screws to stay in place.

  2. UltraX76

well, one gets screwed in, and the other doesn’t.

If your HDMI is disconnecting that easily, you should get a longer cord.

DisplayPort is the best tho icl

any cable that requires you to screw it in can go fuck itself right to hell, lived with it, dont miss it at all

  4. If you dont screw in VGA and actually look at it the wrong way, your screen goes yellow.

Every time I’ve had HDMI disconnect its usually because the cord is too short, or literally every other cable connected to the machine is weighing it down.

I have never had issues with HDMI coming undone. Ever. I have had VGA ports get mangled to death from rough hands screwing and unscrewing them.

  6. It felt like every time you tried to take that cable out to do cable management or whatever, those screws would get caught on *every single cable*.

I think the more impressive part is that a VGA cable produced in 1987 can output 1080p.

It’s probably the most future proof cable & port ever produced.

I’ve also never seen a “degloved” VGA cable.

I had a vga cable plugged into a monitor at my old work

I was told I needed to move the PC at 8:30 in the morning the next day, so I came in early

When I got there, admin cut the vga cable with scissors, and it was hard wired to the monitor, so I had to recycle the monitor

As for disconnecting: I want things that are yanked to disconnect. If they don’t, they take damage. I’d rather a magsafe option

  9. kamikazekaktus

Only if you screwed it in otherwise it was fickle af

Displayport is the best middleground IMO.

  11. brandodg

displayport: if the device supports it you can connect more than 1 monitor to the same port

hdmi: you won’t even be able to know if the cable can transfer more than 4k 30hz

  12. AbleBonus9752

If you don’t look after your vga cable and look at it wrong it goes purple (DONT AS ME HOW I KNOW THIS)

  13. 0riginal-Syn

I say this as an older tech that collects vintage systems. FUCK those damn VGA screws.

  14. Mean_Ice_2663

VGA was amateurshit, DVI was the real shit because you had at least 4 different DVI’s and you never had the right one of someone forgot to bring their cord to the LAN.

  15. PeePeeFrancofransis

I actually prefer DVI-D cables. Or dual link DVI-D for 1600p

  16. Impossible_Oil_4894

I wish I could screw in my Displayport 🙁

I want that bitch knowing it ain’t ever being unplugged.

  17. 538_Jean

DVI, the best of both worlds.
The only reason its not still around its that its big and expensive to produce.

  18. HDMI stays in without screws, but they should add screws any way. I’m a belt and suspenders kind of computer man.

  19. pckldpr

Some of you never had to disconnect one of those that has been screwed in to hard.

  20. JNchuleft

DVI was quite literally the best of both worlds.

Fun fact a colleague of mine managed to somehow rip the entire socket off a PCB when he had problem unplugging his monitor’s DVI-cable. So yeah screwing stuff in is sturdy .. mayhaps too sturdy.

  21. GamerBoyh12

man idk ive never had issues with hdmi but had a lot of issues with vga’s having lose/ free screws

  22. Wheelin-Woody

    VGA had literal anchor screws…..

  23. Otterz4Life

Why are your hdmi ports pulling out?

It’s literally never happened to me in the 18ish years I’ve been using them.
