Good explainer. The high case prices might actually be feeding openings in a way. A casual player that gets a D+N case can sell it and buy a key to open his next case drop.
Valve and CS also profit from having valuable cases. They make more from the steam fee on the market. Players stay engaged to get their somewhat valuable prize every week. Getting every drop for a year, and a casual player can buy a couple AAA games on a steam sale. Pretty much everyone is winning with the high prices, except for the people that actually open them.
So, are you saying "Buy Cases"?

I have like 200 chroma 2/3 cases from when I played regularly in 2017-2019, they were worthless before and now they are like $800 total
im glad that i bought about 1300 Cases in 2015-17 and still own about 700 Spectrum 2 and 300 glove cases and 100 Revos x) i would never open the cases for the prices they have nowadays..
on that i still remember buying my butterfly vanilla for 110€ xD even bought a talon vanilla for 200€ xD..
but i also got f´d… i sold 3500 Breakout Cases when they hit 0,75 Cents each to start my Shares Wallet xD.. that also went really well afterwards.. but it could have been like 20k more if i kept them until today x)
Also pro tip:D never check your Market History from 2014-2016 if you played cs during that time.. it hurts:D i counted up skins and stickers that i owned and checked with current prices.. the worst sells was 2 i buy power holo kato 14 for 37€ and a Double Kato Titan Graphite for 22€ xD, 2 m4 hot rods for 49€ each, icarus fell for 30€.. also a Stat Kara Doppler Phase 2 for 370€
Also lost a M4 Knight to a OPSkins trade bot that is banned^^.. it is what it is oh also the CSGO lounge gambling trades xD
honorable mention are the 900 Cases that i sold for 0,03 cents so i made 9€ from those and 4 cobble stone packages for 21€

Valve make more money in larger steam transactions so it makes sense they would like to keep prices above the minimum. Why take 2 cents of a transaction when you can take $1

10% is just too low. There's been a man admitting to owning 20,000 accounts to farm himself. No offense either, but it was an Asian man so those are probably small numbers that dishonor his family.

Yeah there's a ton of bot and farmers in arms race lobbies that kick you from any server you can get on its unfair.

Happy i bought over 1,000 horizon cases back when they were around $0.70 a case. I did have a hole in my heart when i spent that much on a damn csgo case but I move on with my life and now im rolling in the money if the market continues to go up. Sure im not rich off it but maybe I will be in another 5 years
