I’m not very knowledgeable about graphics cards so I just wanted to ask:
I have a 2080ti and it runs every game absolutely stunningly with a second monitor also playing videos. Is there any point in upgrading? I don’t really understand how the number system works or why it’s up to 5000 if everything is fine on my 2080 😂
I do use it for some intensive computing / analysis / coding and it definitely chugs along with that kind of stuff but still barely slower than my work’s network analysis machine.
Obviously they’re a massive investment so don’t really want to upgrade if there is no real point.

NVIDIA isn’t producing new 3000 series cards and hasn’t been. The price on the 3000 cards on the retail market isn’t coming down anymore. If you want a 3000 on the cheap you’re going to have to go to the used market.

If you’re excited for the xx90 class of cards, then you probably don’t even have to worry about money.
Seriously, you don’t need it. They’re ridiculous, overkill cards designed for people where money is no object to them. It’s just bragging rights. You will be perfectly fine using a 5070 or 5080. Unless you’re playing on like, one of the three 8K monitors that exist in the world, you will never reach anything close to the potential of these cards.

3080 10gb is still a hell of a deal today at $350 used compared to $600 for a 4070. That’s $250 more just for being able to use Nvidia’s frame gen as opposed to AMD’s which works very well on the 3080 and 2 more gb of ram. And the 3080-12gb isn’t all that much more expensive second hand. Does that include a warranty? No.. But it’s still cheaper for a slightly better card.

4090 msrp was 1599.- then corrected to 1699.- without tax. So 5090 could be 500.- bucks more expensive. 2199.- till 2599.- is in my opinion their next msrp pricing tier. Or it will be 1999.- and 5090ti will be 2499.-
