Hey guys, I was about to play Xcom 1 on my new PC with Windows 11 and when I tried to run the game it got stuck on: Updating executable indefinitely.
I tried running the exe myself from the game folder and it doesn't seem to do anything at all.
So I started searching and found a post on Steam talking about this problem, it's already 6 pages long and nobody knows exactly what's going on nor does there seem to be any solution and as strange as it may seem this is something that has started happening relatively recently to everyone. (This literally started happening yesterday according to the post)

Its not just windows 11, its windows 10 too
Also: its affecting civ 5 as well
I swear if a windows update just killed my game while I am at work I’m gonna be pissed. Literally just played it last night and just cleared the first terror mission.
