Just don’t run straight through the main story. Side jobs and gigs are a big part of the game, mix it up
Scruffy_Bob
Take your time, read the info in the gigs and missions, to get a better understanding of the game world. Don’t rush and skip cutscenes, especially the first time through. A common complaint from people who skip the cutscenes or don’t pay attention is they don’t understand the game etc.
If you are finding it hard to decide on how to build your V, there’s a lot of good guides and build ideas on youtube, but there’s no ‘correct’ way to play and everything is viable, so don’t stress or worry about min-maxing.
Have fun and take some time to wander around and explore the game world!
Professional_Yak1320
Don’t rush it. Don’t drive to objectives when you have the chance, a stroll through night city is a fuckin experience man.
Dveralazo
Always loot all the enemies you kill.
Look your skill tree and see what would you want to upgrade .
I suggest investing in the combat health regen and dash perks first.
If the game is too difficult, you can always lower the difficulty at any time of the playthrough.

Take it slow. Get to know the game.
There are a lot of different ways to do missions instead of just going in guns blazing.
Marbon778
Don’t rush the game!!!! It’s so beautiful, do the gigs, and make money your life won’t be complete if you rush it!!!

One big mistake I see people all over this website make is listening to Redditors.
StrongStyleDragon
Main story is pretty short compared to Witcher 3. I would do gigs & side quests then sprinkle in a few main stories. Some main quests require you to wait after completing them. Craft! That was one big mistake I made. Now it makes my playthrough better! Especially with cyberware! Update your cyberware regularly. Can be new things or just upgrade the tiers at the ripper docs. Loot everything. You can make some big money from guns you don’t want. I would upgrade Cool & reflux until 10 to get that extra dialogue. Save often. I just found this out but you can quick save by pressing the start button and pressing Y.

During the heist mission there are two iconic melee weapons that pair well together. That are easily missable Id say more but don’t wanna spoil.

Don’t splurge on skills you don’t need. While many abilities look enticing, you need to see what combos with what. Stick to the one build/fantasy you want and don’t try to be fancy with it in the beginning. After about lvl 20 or so you’ll start getting enough to pick up some complementary skills, but beyond that- use the KISS method and do one thing well.

dont throw away or disassemble outfits u found. Put them all in ur stash, so you could use them all via outfit window in you inventory 😀

Enjoy exploring as well as taking your time to enjoy gigs and side jobs and pay attention to timed gigs that can only be done at certain points or for a limited time.
FoxtrotMac
You can respec perk an unlimited amount of times but only your attributes once.
Don’t sleep on the tech tree. It’s useful for any build.
Disassemble clothes you don’t want. There is a transmog system you can access at an apartment anyways.
Don’t waste mods, upgrade them until you start getting orange tier stuff. You can’t remove them 99% of the time.
Outside of your operating system (Cyberdeck, Sandevistian, Berserk, Chrome Compressor) the most game changing cybernetic augment is the reinforced ankles double jump.
Do side hustles/gigs. You’ll get lots of gear, cred and Ed’s.
There are a few timed quests you can fail if you don’t do them within a set amount of time. I think it’s only 3. I believe Riders on the storm will piss off Panam and lock you put on some stuff if you don’t go help her within like 24 hours.
Happy Together

Don’t worry too much about making mistakes, your game, your experience. One mans “mistake” is anothers preferred way of playing.
The only thing you should keep in mind is that the game will always default to selecting / activating a mission from the main storyline but that doesn’t mean that you have to do that mission next. Don’t rush, enjoy the moment. Find your preferred way to build up your V and be sure to pick up a gig or two; also check out optional side activities.

Biggest mistake is only playing the vanilla game.
Seriously cyberpunk 2077 is so much more fun with some QOL mods

Buy clothes! You don’t want to be the best of the best and don’t like stylishly

Don’t fast travel unless absolutely necessary. Night City is expansive, beautiful and full of details and secrets. If you’re going to a certain place, drive or if possible walk/run. You may come across a street battle, Assault in Progress or Organised Crime Activity and it makes the game feel more organic and Night City more lived in. Do take the opportunity to ride on the.NCART Metro, though.
Play on Hard Difficulty. This is pretty much indicated to be the baseline experience, although if you’re playing for the first time you might find that you die frequently to begin with. (Well, I did.) Best to use cover a lot during early encounters.
Any clothes that you come across that do not have stats on them can be sold without penalty, as they are automatically added to the Wardrobe system when you obtain them. In Clothing Shops there is a “Not in Wardrobe” filter for stock items that helps prevents buying duplicates.
Take your time.
Romance Judy.
And most importantly, enjoy yourself! 😊

Do the gigs and take the double jump cyberware, double jumo makes the game more fun. And do the gigs, from there you can kevel uo and get money and iconic weapons.
RobinBL27
An easy way of gaining money fast is picking up every weapon from the enemies you kill, then selling them to any vendor/shop. As you level up the weapon rarity will grow and sell for even more as well.

Simple, don’t fuck up.

Main story tells you you’re running out of time, don’t take it literally, do missions, quests, explore, enjoy. Don’t stick to a gun all the time. Mix it up
Accept3550
The hat, mask, shirt and jacket slots all have equipment that you can slot in and override with the transmog thing that givs bonuses.
The jacket can either have a plus to armor or a plus to reload speed
Helmet can provide more armor
Eyes can have a scope zoom bonus or something about quick hacks
And the shirt can have a quick hack thing with the net runner suit. Also useful if your transmog Unequips and your shlong hangs free
CDPR_Liars
Don’t take anything but katana, cause it’s the fastest, the stealthfiest way to play and there’s no reason to take any other weapon

Build wise: either 20 in int or nothing is my opinion. If you’re going to net run – commit
