What’s with all the goofy phrases and writing all over the latest ASUS boards? Is that actually a selling point for users?

Yes, ROG is an important brand, so having ROG branded stuff is a selling point.

It’s alright when you don’t have that much rgb lighting to create a beacon. Dimly lit, when pulled off correctly, you don’t see the writing so it’s like any other board. But I love to see the rog logo because it looks cool

is this a fucking morse code on the lowest M2 heatsink? 😀

  4. Use a case without glass sides and you’ll never have to look at it.

It’s supposed to make you think that if they slather enough gamer-related gibberish on it, it plays games better. The motherboard industry relies heavily on this coercion.

They want to make the whales that buy these feel special. That’s the equivalent of BMW, putting M badges all over an M3 I’m talking about everywhere

  7. Jumpy_Army889

They need whales to buy white ROG stuff, ever notice if you want to make an all white build you pay A LOT more?

Very hardcore gamer, dude! You don’t understand! Republic of gamers, we are legion

You can buy sheets of black vinyl for pretty cheap these days, make a few precise cuts and you’re good.

I really dont like these goofy phrases written over good hardware.

Its already top tier gear, goofy stuff is for cheap crap that needs every angle to attract customers.

I had a Galax 2070 super that had “Whats your game?” written on the edge, if that wasnt bad enough they lit it up with bad RGB, it was so stupid and ugly i put black electrical tape over it on day one.

Sometimes ROG series super cool like EVA series but this one looks designed by a edgy teen who lives in basement and wearing a black hoodie. MSI Tomahawk is way cooler than this cringe fest.

for those who dare for those who dare for those who dare for those who dare for those who dare for those who dare for those who dare for those who dare ROG ROG ROG ROG ROG ROG ROG for those who dare GAME FIRST / WORK SECOND dual m.2

why put useful features like DEBUG LEDs on motherboards when you could spend an arm and a leg on unnecessary screens and text on the motherboard that do nothing

  13. I would like to see a picture of the design eng who comes up with the cringe gamer tags.

  14. FeelTheRealBirdie

I mean its cool ig but they’re not the reason why anyone would buy these boards lmao the words are not noticeable when in a case so I don’t see why its a problem

I just wanna know here the less expensive green PCBs straight outta the 90s with modern performance are.

The second we normalized having glass panels and showing off the guts of our cases, any visual surface of our components became a potential marketing surface for a component manufacturer. This was inevitable.

It’s not just an Asus thing the silly slogans are everywhere, I’ll admit ROG is the funniest for putting them all over everything.

    * ROG is “FOR THOSE WHO DARE”
    * Asrocks Phantom Gaming “LINK THE FUTURE”
    * MSI MEG “FREE BAD DRAGON DISCOUNT CODE”
    * Gigabyte “TEAM UP, FIGHT ON”
    * EVGA “WRITE YOUR OWN BIOS, DICKHEAD”

That “FOR THOSE WHO DARE” on the I/O – VRM does look fucking awful though not gonna lie and the text all over shotgun approach is a bit higher than normal. Perhaps they’re going full Joker.

    Asus Xtremely extreme extremely extreme!!!!!!

  19. doodoo_dookypants

Buy for specs and get a tinted glass side panel

  20. AHRA1225

Who cares my case is solid and I can’t see inside it. RGB and all that edgy gamer shit is obnoxious and I don’t ever have to look at it

  21. SurealGod

Remember. The more “gamer” focused a product is, the uglier and gaudy it will be.

For some reason, “gamer” means RGB barf, weird phrases and text plastered all over the place and meaningless radical designs just because they can.

  22. Psyclist80

The sole reason I won’t buy thier product. So tacky and cringe.

  23. VileDespiseAO

Ye ole’ ASUS edgelord marketing. It’s a shame their hardware has absolutely nosedived in quality over the last decade because that was the last thing they had going for them. At this point their customer service, warranty fulfillment, hardware, and prices are just garbage.

  24. Sigh.

    Yes.

I genuinely try to save people money, but yet they keep wanting ASUS ROG stuff. Even if it means buying a slower last gen items used. Marketing has given gamers brain rot. The stuff practically sells itself. No matter how many times Asus f’ks up or the Asus Tax.

  25. pandorga98

kind of looks like it’s written “whore”

  26. Elegant-Hour-5712

Absolutely can’t stand this edge lord “gaming” brand.
