Is there anything lore related as to why they are golden? Looks expensive asf and I am wondering how a simple wage slave could afford cyberware like this. I am on my 3rd playtrough and still trying to find answers

It’s a “full body conversion” similar to Lizzy Wizzy’s. These types of conversions are offered by [MoorE Technologies](https://cyberpunk.fandom.com/wiki/MoorE_Technologies).

Not sure of the cost, but I’d also assume it’s expensive. I’m guessing the receptionists either get paid well, have more sources of income, or save for a while.

Are they people at all, or are they more like that boat whose parts were replaced with others until the moment of no-return?

  3. DeadGirlLydia

They have to get the conversion. Konpeki requires it.

I’ve seen Mike Pondsmith say before that a lot of times in the world of Cyberpunk it’s style first and a lot of cyberware has flooded the market making it more affordable, so you have people in poverty who are chromed out, not sure if this helps but hopefully gives some context

There are some entries that stated that in order to work in Kompeki plaza the applicants should be willing to get implants.

Work-required full-body-conversion, or at least RealSkinn and optics upgrade.

The bartender and hostess at the bar sport the same look.

There’s a lot of subtext throughout the game about people getting chipped or chromed in order to get a job, or keep one. And nearly always, it’s -financed-. Which means if you lose your job, your implants get repossessed. If you run up a bill and it goes to collections, your implants get repo’d to pay the debt.

Arasaka probably owns their entire bodies in the contract they signed.

Has this awoken something in you? A friend of my wife’s boyfriend told someone else that the Japanese have, scholars, who paint themselves in metal paint (dangerous, don’t do this IRL)…

  9. UnhandMeException

    It’s just chemskin. Dirt-cheap fashionware.

Not sure that this will share, but A Closer Look explains it really well: https://youtu.be/Oudl6hlRpHo?si=_CGA1b0iQDz5DdaN
Basically, without saying it we’re told that your employer can require that modification of you, much like you’re asked to wear a uniform for jobs these days.

  11. SuboptimalSupport

They probably paid for it themselves, just like places make their employees buy the company logo shirt.

At least they get Healthcare™ (now with optional Medicine Market™ paid upgrade)

  12. ErectLurantis

There’s actually a shard in game (who actually reads them amirite?) that pretty much says stuff like chromed skin and cyberware are equivalent to that of a dress and hair code, the employees don’t really have a choice

  13. l0wskilled

You’ll probably put the prettiest at the reception

They are not truly golden made, they are golden like

  15. It’s either a full body conversion or body plating, both exist in the lore although the full conversions are ridiculously expensive and make living a normal human life impossible since many “unnecessary” systems, like the digestive system, are removed. I think it is more likely body plating, which preserves the meat body and just adds a shiny exterior.

  16. Emotional_Relative15

whether its cosmetic or a full body conversion like lizzy wizzy, chrome is actually ridiculously cheap, even as of 2020. sure the military/ high grade stuff might cost more, but the average dorph head can afford plenty of chrome even with an addiction.

  17. Lady_Cloudia

A full body conversion. Though there’s a good chance they’ll turn to Cyberpsychosis given the fate of Lizzy Wizzy.

  18. PvtThrockmorton

So like people are saying, the expensive hotels require it

But in cases like Lizzie wizzie they have cyberware where they can look more human than gold

  19. Substantial_Roll_249

Often times companies require it, either you buy it or if you’re lucky they buy it for you.

After you quit your job, often times your implants get repossessed
