That’s scary af, 2-3 min is stressful, can’t immagine 30 min

  2. tollboothwilson

I’m sure it has felt like 30 minutes…

…but has it REALLY been 30 minutes?

I’d keep waiting for a few hours and check to see if the motherboard has a self-healing backup BIOS. If so it’ll probably be okay to turn it off and the BIOS should be able to recover.

    Should.

BIOS updates can sense your fear.

OP hasn’t replied. They’re out buying another motherboard.

Oh the anxiety, the PC is about to explode

Motherboard is cooked and offed itself the moment it detected the new firmware lol

I update bios all the time, on all sorts of types. Workstations, desktops, Windows “tablets”, laptops.

The only thing that can usually take 30 minutes is a high end workstation aka dual cpu, 100+G of ram etc.
Everything else is maybe up to 5 minutes.

Wait it out for an hour…just in case.

Plot twist- it’s only been 45 seconds but time moves differently when that shit’s updating.

Happened to me once, I just turned off the pc at that point, it wont boot up, removed cmos battery and then worked again like normal. Idk if I was lucky or what it was but definetly dont try that and wait.

Don’t use windows apps to update your BIOS, most of them are crap. Always use a USB stick with the files and update directly on the BIOS.
