Step 1: Pick up the Malorian when talking to Grayson.
Step 1 & 1/2: Shoot Grayson in the head.
Step 2: Go over to ladder to container control switch, climb up, press button.
Step 3: Go to lowered container.
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Profit
Or you can just tell Grayson you’ll spare his life, get the container location out of him, then shoot him. I.e., lie.

Absolutely. First, you agree to hear what Grayson has to offer, and then you shoot him anyway. Or, you just kill him and pick the loot up, then go check the container out.

I have both – so yes, dont know why tho, had lot of single malt during my first playthrough
I have both malorian and porsche and have not killed grayson. Malorian was in my third equipment slot after the quest, when I checked.
I got both in both runs I did. It’s not that hard.

Um, yeah. I don’t think there’s been a run where I didn’t have both. I’m trying to figure out how you don’t without deliberately not picking them up.
I didn’t know I was supposed to pick. Figured it was logical to get what you could out of him before shooting him.
I have never not gotten both, and I have spared and killed him on different plays.
I’ve always had both, just tell Grayson you’ll spare him and he gives you the location of the car and gun gets dropped before hand. You can shoot Grayson afterward. Sometimes the crosshair doesn’t let you shoot so use the melee attack which sweeps and kills him

Seeing this post had me thinking I was tripping, because I usually did end up getting both. Seeing the comments though has calmed me lol..
I don’t get it, it’s not like you choose, you can grab the Malorian from Grayson without a problem and you can get the car just as easily

Yes, you can get both, as well as Johnny’s outfit. So, when you dress up like Johnny, use his gun, and drive his car, then look back at yourself it leans into that “I really *am* turning into Johnny” feel.
Nothing is stopping you from shooting someone after agreeing to spare their life.
It comes up a couple other times in the game.

How do you not get the gun during this mission? Don’t they just hand it to you when you interrogate Grayson? Do they take it back or something?
