That’s quite a power draw increase, as expected I guess.
A few generations from now, the 8090 is going to use 1000 watts.
A few more generations after that, north american gamers are going to have to upgrade to 240v to power their 2000 watt graphics cards that can’t run on a 1800 watt 15 amp 120v circuit.

5080 will have half the cuda cores and half the memory bus than the 5090?
Damn, that’s harsh. We are never getting another 3080. Getting another 70 with an 80 sticker on it.
Ok_Style4595
Looking to upgrade my 3070. Will 5070 be a good move for me?

* 600w power draw without a cooler size increase. Article says this hints at not-just-air cooling… good luck with reliability to future owners. Also makes the card more expensive.
* 16gb vram or less unless you buy the most expensive card of the lineup.
* ’80 has half the bus width as the ’90, same as 4080, so the differences between 80 and 90 grow bigger.
2 things: The 5090 smells like it’s aimed at local LLM/T2I model hosting, replacing the dual 3090 which is still king for such a thing. Oh, and gaming is fucked.
MACHO_MUCHACHO2005
Damn, the 5090 draws the same amount as my whole pc

5090 will probably be priced like a quadro.
Nomski88
What a scam, 5080 better be half price of the 5090…

As someone who wants to finish an 4080 Super build mid february it seems like i dont really need to wait and buying an 4080 Super in a few months will be the call.
AintBeGotEatThat
5090 will be an instant buy for me if it’s offering 40+% higher performance @ 4K vs 4090.
My 4090 is starting to feel inadequate with newer games. I’ve got a 4K240Hz panel and I’d love to push into the high 100’s+ more often than not there.
Ah yes, bring the jealousy downvotes. Lmao.

400 watt xx80 card oooooof!
shockwave1211
at this point I wonder if it’s even worth it to go from the 3080 to the 5080, if it’s estimated to cost 1500 bucks, I might just wait for the 70

Gotta be honest, I’m disappointed at the 32GB of VRAM for the 5090. This is supposed to be THE monster flagship card for years to come, and it still will have severe limits on the size of models it can load.
Plus some graphically intensive games from years past can already reach around 20GB of VRAM when maxed out.
They should have gone with 48GB at least or made a bold choice for Christ and smashed us with 64GB.

400W 5080
And it really doesn’t look like it’s a big upgrade from a 4080 super or 4090 judging from specs.

I don’t get it why people cry over 5090 we already knew it’s gonna be a 600+w card it’s been leaked for months we aren’t going backwards to low-power draw cards we are going forward yes the card is going to require an absurd amount of power but what you expect it’s the end of the line card same when Titan came out not everyone can afford it it’s a top end card. That’s what happens with new technology comes out at the start it might seem absurd but after a few years, even 600w won’t be a crazy amount of power.
Cheap_Collar2419
4090 already pops my breaker from time to time.
bearfan15
Only 16gb of VRAM for the 3080. Very disappointing. These last few generations of cards are not going to age well at all because of the lack of vram. It’s already a problem in alot of games.
shmiga02
In a few years we wont even be able to cool these things, like 600W bruv? WHAT???? It literally will be noticeable on your power bill how much you game, its insane.
