Story, graphics, gameplay, then at dead last original.

  2. notagoodsniper

As someone who plays by himself, story.

It doesn’t matter how beautiful your game looks, if I’m bored with it I’m not coming back to play it.

  3. RichardK1234

Gameplay is always the most important factor, if I cared about the story, I’d rather watch a movie or read a book

    There’s a reason there’s ‘game’ in *gameplay*

  4. Glittering_Net_7734

If Graphics isn’t really a big thing, I don’t think graphics cards would be as expensive as it currently is.

  5. MannerPitiful6222

Cyberpunk on ultra is beautiful, but at the end of the day I still choose to binge play elder scrolls oblivion

  6. RaibaruFan

I don’t care about originality, couldn’t care less about graphics, if the game tells an interesting story and/or is just fun, I’m down.

  7. BetterAir7

AAA game industry isn’t capable of making good gameplay, story, and ideas but good graphic
maybe shifting their company to 3D Adult Industry could be good idea.

  8. mr-ifuad

And me with my ThinkPad Intel HD graphic card

  9. You know back in the day we had all of those things in one game…

  10. ldontgeit

Graphics help, but nothing beats Terraria 😀

  11. glumpoodle

Higher fidelity doesn’t even always mean better graphics, either. Art Direction >> Fidelity, and the art direction on so many AAA projects are just plain boring despite the higher polygon counts. They manage to look worse while costing many times more to produce.

  12. Gameplay, you could have dumpsters tier writting, have 0 original ideas and look like ass and i’d still play the shit out of it as long as it’s fun.

  13. Roberthen_Kazisvet

Then there is Cyberpunk, RDR2 with all of it.

  14. I_Live_In_Your_WaII

the most important features are whatever Team Fortress 2 and Factorio do

  15. Graphics matter to an extent. You gotta be able to see what you’re looking at. Also, if they’re going for a retro approach, you need to do it cleanly. I’ve seen many indie 64 bit games that look incredible, while others look horribly fuzzy.

    Otherwise gameplay > everything.

  16. Itchy_Cover

I would say that the gameplay is the most important part of the game, but the graphics are also not unimportant, but there are games that don’t need anything except gameplay and mods (I’m talking about Minecraft and Terraria), but the plot is also not unimportant.

  17. stillfree_dripone

The most important in a game is, that it is not autosave only. I need my manual save.

  18. _silentgameplays_

If it’s another open-world sandbox live-service game with repetitive fetch quests or another cutscene movie walking simulator with puzzles, then it’s a hard pass even if the graphics are AAAA,

  19. grandmapilot

When open world doesn’t wait you and doesn’t revolve around you.

  20. TyphonNeuron

Gameplay > the rest. The rest is a bonus, if it’s good.

  21. TheLostExpedition

Fun always wins the long game. Who loves 1990’s real 3D graphics? If the game isn’t fun. No one cares. Because 2025’s graphics ain’t going to matter much in the 2055’s gaming scene.

  22. Gameplay, sound design, story and only then graphics.

  23. BicyclePutrid

The most important part of a game is its fun value, because as the spokesman of Nintendo of America Reggie once said, if it’s not fun, why bother?

  24. vaustin89

Since I don’t play multiplayer anymore, story is my number one priority.

  25. SleepyGamer1992

Performance is my main concern. If a game is stuttering, lagging, or crashing, that’s when I get annoyed. Superior graphics don’t mean shit if the game is all jittery. Gameplay is up there too. The game needs to keep me entertained otherwise there’s not much point in playing it.

  26. Still_Tourist_5745

They are. Graphics is the least important part of a VG.

  27. thenormaluser35

I enjoy a game with good story, but I like photographing virtual environments and so the better the graphics are, the more I like the game.
I will consider the others just as much, and disconsider graphics if it’s from a smaller company.

  28. KaydeanRavenwood

You can polish a turd. But, the second you crack it open. Still a turd.

  29. Vast_Amphibian5933

Yeah though i like 3d games more than 2d

  30. bedwars_player

if the 1080 will run it, and it’s fun, i’ll play it. end of.

  31. Imoraswut

    Lack of Denuvo/EA (cr)app/mandatory logins.

  32. tucketnucket

If a game has an FPS cap below 60, I won’t play it. Even capped at 60 annoys me. I sacrifice online play on Elden Ring just to use the FPS uncap mod.

So more important than anything is enjoyable frame rates.

  33. HurtWorld1999

Games that are fun, have great writing, and are optimized properly.

  34. Story.

It doesn’t matter how fun your gameplay is, if I’m not invested in the world and characters then I don’t care. I’ll go play something else.

I like to use games as an interactive movie a bit. Movies and TV shows are too boring to sit there and watch, but a game with a good amount of cutscenes and gameplay is perfect for me.

  35. thetealishCYAN

visuals are not only determined by graphical fidelity but also the art style.

  36. Shadowmant

Really depends on the type of game we’re talking about.

I don’t need amazing story for a puzzle game like Tetris but I’d hate an RPG without it. Great graphics is a must for a good open world game for me but I can survive with just good graphics in an isometric hack’n’slash.
