Half Life is one of those pieces of media that it’s difficult to appreciate after the fact. Anyone who tried it now wouldn’t get why it was such a big deal… because all their expectations for what an FPS campaign should be were set by Half Life.
It makes you wonder what video games in general would look like if it had sunk. Particularly in light of what a big deal some of its direct descendants would up being.
