I turn off ray tracing because it fucks up the lighting on every game I play with it.

Ain’t reality different? With Bobby being AMD and using sign like “if your ~50% more expensive card can’t even outperform direct competitor in rasterisation, you are the problem of market” or something like that?

And teacher being “if those kids could think for themselves/logically, they’d be upset”

  4. katiecharm

I will accept people saying you can run at max legacy settings.

Also, “max settings” at 1440 vs 4k is a whole different story.

  5. MarranoCachondo

If you rely on fake frames to reach 60 fps, your gpu can’t run on max settings

  6. esgrove2

Between ray tracing at 60 fps, or no ray tracing and 120 fps, I’ll always turn off ray tracing.

  7. Diegolobox

Ray Tracing is an optional setting that is not necessary to have a complete image and in addition in many games it is not implemented correctly so it does not make sense to use it

  8. you didnt label who the kids are in this scenario

  10. Kartatz40

Ray tracing to me is the same as 4K and Oled rich people feature that I should ignore because I will never be able to afford it.

  11. sidemitch

me when i can’t even label a shit meme correctly

  12. Snotnarok

I don’t really count RayTracing as ‘max settings’. It’s extra settings at this point.

Games are still designed without raytracing- it’s always added in. So you max out a game settings without RT it’s going to look fantastic. RT is going to add to that sure but it’s such an expensive cost that I’ve yet to see the benefit.

    “Play it with cyberpunk”
So I’ve heard, but it also make the game run like crap so again, what’s the benefit if the game, that’s an interactive medium, runs like crap?

I’ve seen vids and it looks great, RT is just not there yet where it’s affordable enough to be worth it. Eventually it will be much like all tech like this. But, disagree if you want- RT is extra settings and I don’t count it when I mention running it at max settings.

  13. NinQueenGamer

Can any latest release GPU actually run Cyberpunk at max settings without melting? 🫠 if so I’d like to know which one it is!

  14. BrotherMichigan

Do you not understand how this meme template works?

  15. RentonZero

Let’s ignore for a second that not all games are equal, even in RT implementation and take cyberpunk as an example since it’s the most popular example for GPU benchmarks.

Not even Nvidia cards can run it maxed out at 4k and hit 60fps native, you need to use dlss for that. If I can lower a couple of settings and maybe use dlss, fsr or xess and achieve 90% of the same graphical fidelity at the same or similar FPS and save £500+ then I don’t think it’s much of a flex for those who did spend the extra

  16. nick_corob

Who tf cares about RT? In my eyes it makes the scenes look more confusing and dark.

  17. El_Cactus_Fantastico

I don’t need or really want ray tracing tho

  18. UnicronJr

Ray tracing doesn’t even look better most of the time. More accurate sure, but not better

  19. Systemlord_FlaUsh

Having the XTX feels like you only lack RT performance. But theres only one card on the market that does somewhat good 4K RT: Its called a 4090 and too expensive. So having a XTX is still better than nothing.

  20. vector_o

People actually do that? Claim they run something at max settings while..not running it at max settings?

  21. Blacksad9999

AMD: Holding advancement in graphics technology back since 2018.

  22. Bright-City-5069

unless you have something like a 4090 you are not using real ray tracing like path tracing but are using limited ray tracing with rasterization effects

  23. BigGangMoney

Just dont use dlss and be happy with your native 30 fps. Native doesn’t matter unless your on a console. Almost no difference on pc, actually looks worse with dlss off. Dlss makes the game look better and gives more frames.

  24. Vice4Life

I really wish DLSS and FSR weren’t a thing. It might force developers to actually optimize their games. But the big publishers can’t have that. Gotta shovel out their service garbage as quick as they can.

  25. Recent-Ad-9975

Raytracing is a bullshit gimmick, I would always turn it off in order to get more fps.

  26. antmanfan3911

Meanwhile I’m over here content with my 30 fps. Just chilling and laughing as people complain about loosing 3 fps.

  27. Clean_Perception_235

Why would nvidia say that? Do you even know how the template works?

  28. Here is a bigger pill to swallow

DLSS is a requirement for RT

  29. AMDSuperBeast86

Guy made an incomprehensible meme and still managed to kick up a hornets nest in the comments 😂

  30. awake283

Every amd vs nvidia test I see has ray tracing and everything else turned off in comparisons. I dont get it. Thats like comparing a car to a car with a turbo but then saying you cant use the turbo.

  32. VladimirComputin1

if you have to make one graphic setting so demanding to justify the 300 percent price disparity between yours and your competitors top cards your the problem, not the competitor.

  33. yeeeyeeetus

So many insufferable fucks like you on this subreddit 😁

  34. Shurialvaro

This is easily the worst take on the subject.

  35. ResidualWasabi

Sometimes my games auto optimize with ray tracing and it runs great, but then I turn it off…
