You know when a company is down bad when their 15, 13 and 9 year old singleplayer titles are destroying their 8 month old live service game.

Rocksteady is a victim of warner brothers. Afaik, they didn’t want it, but eventually gave up and made whatever live service they could.

This wasn’t something Rocksteady especially *wanted* to make, Warner Bros barely understands the concept of “live service games”, and these games are a notorious hard sell to many player who are inclined to hate them on principle alone. Launching a live service game in the face of significant *negative* hype is clearly just stupid. Both Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Concord should be proof of that. Warner Bros and Sony would both have been better off (financially and reputationally) simply abandoning and shelving these *fully completed* games without ever publishing them. The both fell into the sunk cost fallacy in a big way and now they’re paying dearly for it.

Ubisoft did the same with Skull and Bones, and *they* made things so much worse by leaning hard into it and even proclaiming it the world’s first AAAA game. I know they’d backed themselves into a corner by taking money to develop the game from Singapore or something, but they probably should have just given the money back and pretend the game never happened rather than going ahead and publishing it.

This game gets shit on quite a bit but my brother bought it for me and it was pretty damn fun to play through co-op. Movement and shooting were both pretty satisfying. Guess I don’t really care if a game is live service or not.
