    Man… nostalgia hitting hard…
I had such high hopes for this one

The city raids were fun but lag fests, seems not much changed in 20 years

Are you at a Best Buy clearance section ?

It was quite an ambitious game when it first came out, it had a horrible launch, servers filled up, then the user base scattered through multiple servers but there was some real player churn early on. leading to too many servers and too few people on each of the servers… it was a mess… But it was also the first game to introduce “public quests” to MMO’s, it did a lot of really innovative and cool things but it all fell apart…

Another thing to note is that Mythic games that made the game were acquired by EA midway through and moved a bunch of the staff to work on The Old Republic, star wars MMO so Warhammer online was never fully realized.

    However there’s hope

The return of reckoning is now the only way to play the game… it’s structure is pretty unique and the game is pretty fun for what it is… Play it here: [https://www.returnofreckoning.com/](https://www.returnofreckoning.com/)

The Return of reckoning team has also been developing their version of the game longer than the original game was in development so it has some pretty juicy additions

I miss this game so much. It’s a memorial mmo though so you can still login and roam around to see the locations.

  6. The private server, Return of Reckoning, has some very impressive 200 vs 200 PvP during prime time. I didn’t experience any lag in those large scale battles whatsoever. Extremely fun PvP-oriented progression system. Highly recommend. Haven’t played in a few months though.

It still has the only PvP I actually liked in an MMO. Lol collision detection goes a long way. Especially as a tank went being at the frontline actually does something.

Ah yes the age of mmos. A failed age surely

That game was awesome. I wish more people played it. I left WoW to play this, and enjoyed it by myself – even when nobody else came with me…………

I played a White Lion and my pet kept going into the floor, so I rerolled an engineer and I was barely functional outside of punting people off of cliffs, so then I rerolled to a Magus and I discovered what TRUE uselessness was, so I rerolled to a Bright Wizard and proceeded to be the most overpowered thing I’ve played in an MMO.

idk why but that giant red sticker reminds me of something.

like i feel like i used to look through games at a store or something and see that red sticker a lot

It was so nice back in the day but was hard to play with my Pentium III

  13. Ebytown754

I remember that timeframe with all the MMOs being labeled WoW killers.

I just heard that the game is still up on a community managed server. Wild.
Age of Rereckoning it’s called if I remember correctly.

No, this is not the new Warhammer game. This platform is for asking and answering questions.

Game was very flawed but it was so much fun at the same time. Very fond memories with this one.

  17. milaaxxllove

Yeah I played it for like, totally a week and it was so buggy I gave up.

  18. mikasa_waifu

You mean Return of reckoning? I didn’t realize they were releasing a new official Warhammer game.

  19. Gloriouskoifish

It’s main problem was advertising itself as a WoW killer. That term was so big back then 😆

  20. Skarniks

  21. IIIIENGINEERIIII

I still have my copy of that game! The open world PvP was so much fun.
