Id pack it between the tower and box with something to minimise any crushing/bashes during transit.

  2. Alternative-Base-760

Stuff the internals with bubble wraps aswell, they sometimes handle the luggage by throwing it around

  3. Commander_Crispy

I would detach the Wi-Fi antennas if it were me

  4. AnotherFellowMan

You may have already done this but make sure you remove your GPU and pack it separately or alongside the case with extra protection.

Remove the WiFi antennae and anything else that could snap or early loosen and come off in transit.

If possible, use an ever so slightly bigger box so there is space between the polystyrene and the cardboard, scrunch up an obscenely excessive amount of newspaper and make sure that it is padded on all sides. This is so when it inevitably gets kicked, thrown against a wall or dropped there is at least some shock absorption to help.

You yanked out the gpu … good. Now take the WiFi antennas off as well. Like others have said pack the sides as well make sure no gaps are in the box. Things will be placed on it and it will be tossed around.

  6. Educational_Duck3393

I see you removed the video card, good move.

  7. Time-Supermarket-563

I think you should separate everything like before it was assembled.

  8. Remove the cpu cooler if you have a tower cpu cooler

As an airline employee, I’m going to try and do you a solid. I dont know who you are on or where you are flying from, but I, Me, would rather FedEx ground it as “Fragile” than trust certain major airport baggage crews.
I know that the 99% of you, at 99% of our locations out there are exceptional at your job, but it’s that 1% that ruined it for everyone.

  10. prombloodd

I’ll give you the same advice my father gave me about flying: don’t bring anything you can’t stand to lose

I would double box it. Pack this box up as is (remove the antenna and video card – cooler if it’s a tower). Wrap this box in the big bubble wrap. Pack it into another larger box tight enough that it doesn’t have any movement. Airline baggage handling is significantly harder on a package than most logistics/sorting centers and the delivery people serving them so you should keep that in mind.

Be sure to support the graphics card and fill up the case with bubble wrap, or alternatively (better) disconnect graphics card and put in box and bubble wrap separately.

No fucking way would i checj a PC.

    Pay for professional shipping.

  14. jaiden_webdev

I checked a suitcase packed full of clothes with a laptop buried in the middle for padding. They still managed to destroy the laptop.

Don’t check the computer with an airline unless you’re willing to _no longer have a computer._

  15. NotJustBibbit

Remove wifi antennas and stuff the inside of the case with bubble wrap, newspaper, clothes. Just anything that will absorb impact since workers tend to throw, and I mean THROW your shit around.

  16. Everyone_dreams

No, I have watched enough bags get thrown to know this.

Do you think you can throw that box 3-5 feet on a hard metal surface without causing damage?

  17. Roman64s

Remove the RAM, a tower cooler if you have one and the hard disk. Take out the WiFi antennas as well.

RAM can loosen itself up if it gets jostled hard and wreck havoc inside your case. Tower Cooler is self explanatory.

HDDs are fragile and finicky, one bad drop means all your data goes bye-bye.

Honestly, I’d be surprised if it comes out unscathed considering how harsh airlines handle baggage even when they are labelled fragile.

  18. I work in shipping. Put bubble wrap in tight.

  19. Terrachova

If you are checking anything on a flight, pack it with the expecwtion it will get literally kicked and thrown around.  Because it will – not necessarily by workers, but by the baggage carousel system if nothing else.

  20. harry_lostone

Dont you have a blanket (quilt, duvet, idk what’s the word for the giga fluffy fat one lmao) and like, many many clothes? Use them instead… Wrap the rig around the blankets (), stuff clothes on the corners, fill the gaps with socks etc.

I shipped myself back and forth when I was going to uni abroad the same way, it barely got a minor scratch no one can see. Obviously GPU was out (plus any peripheral/dongles, including the wifi antennas you left on).

    It should be fine

  21. Equal-Belt-5960

Probably not, they’ll toss it around. I’d put “fragile – handle with care” stickers on every side of the box if it’s your only option.

  22. Unusual-East4126

Imagine kicking it across your house. Pack it for that.

  23. IsDaedalus

Don’t do it man. That PC is going to get destroyed. Ship it fragile instead and hope for the best

  24. Big_Macaroon_3915

I didn’t want to risk shipping my PC when I was moving so I removed all the components and packed them between layers of clothing in my hardcase for check in. Sold the old case locally and rebought same one on Amazon when I got there. It also cost less than shipping it too.

  25. abdullahcfix

What case is that? Looks like a Corsair Carbide Air 540 but slightly different.

  26. They’re gonna fuck this thing up so bad. Spend the cash to ship and insure it.

  27. Guttename

Just take all apart and throw away the case. Take the internals as handluggage

  28. Drake_Xahu

Stuff the inside with clothing, it will double up as extra storage and packing material.

  29. Nifferothix

RIP pc… I once shipped a pc like this and the cpu cooler got bend over
