Sure, I can probably sell my ps5 for about 350-400€ now, but I still have to pay about 450-500€ for the pro and then disc drive, since I buy most of my games used, perhaps 600€ for a pro in Sweden?
US$700 is insanely expensive for a home console. The PS5 Pro would be too expensive in countries outside of North America, Japan and Western Europe.

Honestly, this was what I was set to do and I was looking forward to it because I like having the newest thing but then… i saw that the pro doesn’t have a disk drive and thought, nah i’m good.
Just checked CEX here in the UK. £285 Trade in Voucher for my PS5. £415 upgrade to lose my disc drive ain’t it, bub.

The only store that still did trade-ins for consoles and games in my country just declared bankruptcy, guess it’s not aimed at anyone with a PS5 in my country.
Even if I could trade it in, it’s still a terrible upgrade since I’d have to buy the disc drive to play any games at all for a minor upgrade.
I was planning on upgrading and doing just that, but not for 350 fucking quid, and then _also_ having to buy a separate fucking disc drive to replace the one already built into the console I’d be trading in!!

The real issue to me is that this is the price without the disc drive and stand, both of which are a must.
I won’t be surprised if the PS5 Pro has a different stand design to the PS5 so even those trading in the console can’t retain their stand.
I expect Sony throwing in the stands ‘free’ at around Xmas but that still does not solve the missing drive.
But then what about long term support for a 700 upgrade? Is a PS6-lite that will just get ignored for support once the PS6 comes out?
Also, why not just buy an actual gaming PC at this price point? It’s getting pretty close and then you get way more function.

I’m just going to sell my PS5 which I don’t use anymore, keep my $350 and never buy another one of their overpriced products ever again. Most PS exclusives will get a PC release eventually and I’m very patient.
I don’t know of any where in the Uk that I could trade in any more, as I’m thought game stopped it.
