To make a long story short, I was playing a net Runner build, and completed phantom liberty again and noticed a theme with square digital shapes and red lightning around the blackwall. Then I checked edgerunners and even though it’s never stated in the show, I think Lucy might have something similar going on with her as what V has going on when you get the cyberdeck with the blackwall AI built into it. I think she has a rabid ai in her head.

The only time hacking involves red lightning showing up on victim are with the three specific characters of songbird V and Lucy. With Songbird and V we explicitly know that the hack involves a blackwall ai with only Lucy going unexplained.

There is a matter of power levels involved, but I think that’s easily explained by the level of chrome each of the three characters has. songbird is the strongest and obviously most machine of three. Lucy is the weakest, but she also seems to have a lighter level of chrome than a max level V

I hope we get answers to all this stuff in Orion and honestly with all the hints hidden throughout 2077 about Orion. I think it may just have something to do with the blackwall breaking down and some connection between the blackwall and the moon because Songbird and Lucy both afflicted with blackwall AI seek the moon as an place to find the answer.

I mean, it would explain why smasher shrugged it off, I tried blackwalling him but eventually had to resort to ol reliable (ba xing chong)

Completely possible. Lucy was forced into the old web multiple times. Maybe instead of frying her, it just latched on. It might be her secret to being a good net runner. Like where Kiwi fails she succeeded.

  3. Possible but imo unlikely, it might have just been a style choice of the anime.

    😦

I was not expecting to see my V on someone else’s post.

    1. So Mi does not have a rabid AI inside her. Alt says in The Star ending that with the technology humanity currently possesses, it is impossible for them to slip into the real world. Rogue AIs take over So Mi in Reed’s path because all her ICE defenses get crushed under ICEbreaker, leaving her exposed and vulnerable for their attacks in cyberspace.

    2. Red residue and lightning is what V exclusively sees due to their Relic bond with So Mi, Reed even says that during Somewhat Damaged. Also, it doesn’t necessarily mean that So Mi is using the Blackwall, because So Mi hacks several things during the NCX op without utilizing the Blackwall, yet V can still see the red residue. It is more of V seeing what So Mi hacks.

    3. There is a difference between deep diving beyond the Blackwall for a few seconds (V in Transmission, Lucy in Edgerunners) and actively weaponizing it for your purposes (Songbird). The latter actively burns the user and can easily kill in a matter of seconds (as we can see with Slider, who is arguably the best VDB netrunner and should be better than Lucy).

    4. Red eyes don’t mean “they’re using the Blackwall”. Red eyes means they are actively hacking or connected to cyberspace. We can see red eyes with Meredith’s bodyguard who connects to V to see if they’re lying, or with Kiwi in Edgerunners when she is deep diving. There are a couple of more scenarios.

    5. Militech Canto and Erebus do not have a rogue AI in them, but more of a custom Militech-built AI from pre-Krash era that is capable of temporarily piercing the Blackwall. The reason it’s not an actual rogue AI is because that would mean it’s essentially a second neural matrix, which would be very plot hole like since we know there’s only one instance.

No. You need to stop making Lucy bigger than she is. She is a very talented netrunner that could have been even better if she didn’t wasted her skills with stealing from corpos on the subway and running middle tier heists with Maines crew. But that’s pretty much all about her.

I believe she does. Seeing as how she was forced to deepdive into the Old Net, it’s completely plausible she managed to chip off a fragment of a Blackwall AI and harness its power, or that one decided to hop into her body and not kill her for whatever reason.
