I always use Manual mode for my 13600k/Asus Z790 overclock of 5.5/3.9/4.8. For my chip, it needs Vcore of 1.305-1.315v for stable R23 30min or stable gaming. Temperature is ok. I use loadline 6 of 7.
I tried to learn about adaptive mode for over clocking to achieve “auto lower voltage when idle” for a little efficiency.
– I enable “adaptive global svid voltage”
– Give CPU voltage an offset to match exact the same Vcore when r23.
Everything is fine, and it will decrease to 0.8-0.9v when Cstate triggers. I’m happy with that.
But I found the “manual” one will draw 180w but “adaptive”one draw 200w. Both are consistent 1.314v, both are over 25000scores, both are under no power limit. Nothing else changed except voltage settings.
I don’t know what I’ve missed. Or can I do better to achieve my goal. I don’t care about power draw, just curious.
