I would NEVER want an OS to auto delete ANY file unrelated to leftover data from a program getting uninstalled and temp data cleaning. Installers too. I keep those for archival reasons (reinstalls, repairs, old versions that worked, etc) and would be pissed if Windows started auto deleting my installers.

macOS does give you this option (to remove the installer after installation), but no, they should not do this automatically under any circumstance.

I would prefer not. I do have a folder with all kinds of installers that I use as a toolbox. whenever I reinstall my PC, I can just go to that folder and install everything without having to download all installers again.

I think people are definitely overreacting in the comments. It seems like OP wants Windows to act and function like an Android phone or other device, where applications are installed and the system automatically handles the install and removal of the installation software. For example on your phone, if you install an app, you don’t have a leftover install file visibly sitting on your phone home screen. It handles all that for you. Fortunately, that’s not how it works
