I told my Coworker that I like old pc hardware as a hobby. He says he has been trying to make room and need to clean up. Gives me this nostalgia piece. And honestly never knew that they branded cases, so this was a complete surprise for me.

Oh sweet, a free Windows XP product key, nice.

That’s really cool. You’re lucky to have it.

Around the time fry’s was on its way out I went in to spend a bunch of money on components, their team couldn’t be assed to help me and I asked about when they would get more XYZ in and they just said idk. I was ready to drop several thousand on parts and peripherals and they just ignored me.

I went to microcenter and they had everything I wanted with grade a customer support.

It was sad I loved fry’s growing up but tbh microcenter is better than fry’s ever was anyways. The business evidently failed to to greedy management, poorly run by family owners.

I really like the recessed FireWire and USB ports. How does it all connect to whatever’s inside? PCI? I have a FireWire PCIe card in my PC to digitize video tapes from an old MiniDV camcorder.

Early 2000s gaming pc cases went hard. I liked them more than the clear PC terrariums we have today.

Really cool case, but that i/o placement on the right side panel is absolutely psychotic.

Looks like that case was kept in a PC museum.
Do need to find a floppy drive, if just for filler.

I miss Fry’s. They were a few miles away, Microcenter a few miles further in the same direction if I couldn’t find what I wanted at Fry’s.

  11. I miss Fry’s. I lived closer to the Phoenix “Golf Course” one, which theming wise, wasn’t the greatest, but I also went to the Aztec Temple one too.

Did 2 builds over a few years with stuff mostly from there, and was getting components for #3 when the shelves started to get empty.

Man i miss Fry’s. There used to be one about 30min from me. It was really sad going in there near the end.

The glory days of desktop PCs were the glory days of Fry’s.
