  1. A combo of toothpaste and vaseline isn’t actually that terrible at this job. If you’re lost in the woods and find yourself in a situation where you need to urgently build a PC, but don’t have any thermal paste, it’ll be good enough to get the machine going.

It’s ironic because toothpaste actually is a pretty good conductor… I didn’t have thermal paste one day, and all the shops were closed. I had a new rig and saw this online. Said fuck it, what’s the worst that can happen. Actually kept Temps below 90, which was all I needed until I could go to the store the next day.

Don’t forget to brush thoroughly and flossing between the capacitors counts for at least -2C.

When I eat minty toothpaste it’s cool. Thermal paste regulates temperature. I don’t see any flaws in OP’s logic.

    I dare you

Saw a test where they actually used toothpaste and it worked. Wasn’t as good as thermal paste but kept cpu cool enough. Doubt it would last long though.
