This post recently blew up on this sub, and at first glance I immediately felt like soemthing was off about this image. It has this strange uncanny valley feel to it. It has a sterile asthetic that makes it look too good to be true. It resembles the kind of cg image you see on Amazon being used to sell computer accessories.
Now alot of people agree with me, they're convinced this is AI. Go look at the comments on the original post. But surprisingly, alot of people believe it to be a real image.
When you dig a little deeper and go to OP's profile, their latest post is another image of their setup to try and prove to people that it's not AI / 3D rendered. But there's alot of inconsistencies in that image. Everything in the image is different. Different mouse, monitor, keyboard, poster in the background, etc. It's almost like they accidentally changed the AI prompt a bit.
I must know where people stand on this. I'm 100% convinced without a shadow of doubt that this image is fake. What do you think?

It’s 100% AI and it’s obvious. Folks asked for a close up of the PC but the guy just zoom in on it from the same perspective.
If you can’t tell this is AI then you’re in for a rough ride next decade.
OP is u/FunAnswer4353
Go to their profile and look at their latest post of them trying to prove its not AI. It’s a completely different setup (different mouse, keyboard, poster in the background, etc)… almost like they changed the prompt a bit. Zoom into the GeForce graphics card, the letters didn’t fully render. I’ll let you come to your own conclusions. But we must have this debate for the sake of keeping things real on this subreddit.
I didn’t do a follow up of the original post, but I do see people saying it was AI. OP failed to provide another angle, that enough is proof for me. The image is just too clean in every possible way in my eye.
1st. it isn’t ai, ai has trouble with words and letters and such. all clocks are synced up, the “geforce rtx” is in perfect condition and isn’t misspelled or unaligned. all other words are spelled fine and there’s no grammatical errors. ai has trouble with things like that. 2nd, why would someone render this? i mean go through all the time to properly clean up the image making it look realistic as possible for what? some upvotes on a battlestations subreddit? some people just have clean setups. just as some people have super expensive high quality cameras. and as for they’re setup changing. i often change my set up, i move my pc around, have multiple mice and keyboards. i sometimes change my monitors. this user looks to be into photography or something of that nature. multiple people have said the same things i’ve said in the original post. just my two cents.
I am so convinced that this is AI, ngl
u/FunAnswer4353 can prove it’s real by posting a 10 second *video* of this setup. If not, I’m going for render, not AI. AI is too sloppy with details, and this has a lot of details.
The setup is real, not AI generated because there is literally nothing in the post that verifies that, but it is ultra clean because it looks to be a demo setup, probably for the AIO cooler that others seem to suggest he’s marketing for.
Most likely these pics are from a while ago and the setup no longer exists, so he only has one-time images to post and can’t do as everyone else asks
i’ve seen that post too and it was so strange to look at,
for me it’s not AI. but that wallpaper is def edited in or partially tweaked, the light and contrast is too perfect
i’ve generated AI rooms for ideas but it works in different way, things like lighting, no mess around, perfect lines, this perspective is really hard to make it without editing that it’s not “worth” wasting too much time
Looks to be cg. Or ai with cleanup. But its definitely got the cg look with perfect reflection on materials and objects
Everyone is saying this is AI, and unless this guy has some super-advanced image generation AI that’s 20 years ahead, this is literally impossible.
I don’t know any AI model significantly advanced to perfectly render a OnePlus phone with branding, a completely correct Windows 11 UI seemingly internationalised into Chinese, a perfect Xbox controller, perfect text on the poster that cuts off properly and is even correct when zoomed, synced clocks, a perfectly accurate cooler that was only recently released *in the dark inside a computer case*, a perfect looking M1 Macbook Air under the monitor, a perfect looking Nintendo Switch under the monitor, some specific freaky looking mouse, and some fans that I’ve definitely seen in that exact form for sale. Not to mention, the lighting is correct, and the shadows are correct. Hell, there’s even a perfect looking original Macintosh model in the corner.
It even has perfect digital noise, focus, and even some slight chromatic abberation around the letters of the poster.
No AI has this product knowledge let alone this level of object permanence or physical knowledge. I feel like people just don’t know what a good camera + some postprocessing can do. Dude probably just took someone else’s image if it’s fake.
The consensus here is really worrying considering people actually can’t tell whether something is AI or not, which is what you all seem to be complaining about.
I don’t believe it is AI.
– Speakers are consistent
– keyboard is too correct for AI
– correct details and symbols on Xbox controller
– consistent Windows 11 taskbar
– all text lettering is clear and consistent (poster, GeForce)
If it is AI. It’s better than any I’m aware of. They screw up details like that.
It could be rendered. Could be lighting and anal retentive level of cleaning.
I was skeptical because it looks too perfect.
not ai. words are too well generated, logos are perfectly accurate, the xbox controller is spot on and so is the studio display. it’s just a very well lit photo that has been processed a bit and looks almost too sharp
AI or not though, it’s a slick setup. At the end of the day, what does it matter in this sub? If you’re here to see great setups, mission accomplished no?
AI? Most likely no ‘cos you can read the poster, same time on tablet and mobo etc etc. Bunch of small details on every picture that doesn’t look like AI creation.
3D render? I would say yes. Nothing special, but very nicely done render. Every setup has the same lighting settings, but weirdly different components, even inside the desktop.
I think it’s real. As someone who tried joining the setup social media creator space you’d be surprised the length people would go through to stage their workspace for photos. All you need is a tape measure and about 30 mins and you can align things in this way and take your photo. Then edit it a bit further in lightroom
Not sure about AI but render or very polished photo for sure. That guy has comment history full of only promoting those Tryx producst and this exact setup with some different peripherals is in their websites frontpage so probably just a marketing account for Tryx.
My initial thought when I saw this was that it wasn’t real. I’m a photographer with over 20 years experience and have a very well trained eye.
It isn’t AI. Or if it is, someone has meticulously cleaned up the text.
I can’t quite place my finger on it, and I know that the OP posted a close up image of the tower. Still…the lighting isn’t real. Or at least my brain is convinced it isn’t. This could be because the image was heavily edited in post and it is actually a photograph. I think at the very least the screen image is simulated which throws off the lighting in the image.
It’s clean. ~~Too clean. My vote is on CG.~~
Edit: it is a very well orchestrated photograph with a simulated screen image. (Can’t confirm the latter, but I really think it’s that lighting difference that throws off our eyes). I changed my vote after zooming in on some details. There is a a slight smudge on the iPad screen and the reflection of the wall on that screen is as it should be.
Edit 2: more details. The spectral highlights on things like the details inside the tower and the Xbox controller buttons are further confirmation that it’s a photograph. Unreal Engine 5 has photorealistic rendering, but it has yet to nail lighting diffusion – especially on different types of surfaces. The variance in highlight intensity and fall off in relation to the light source indicates it is a photograph.
I still go back to the shading and light of the monitor/desktop background that is the main reason everyone is thrown off by this image.
Hear me out: you all concentrated to refute this is AI and completely forgot about manual 3D render stuff in 3ds Max or Blender, which it could be.
I don’t know, but I love the wallpaper
Def not ai. Things are spelled right, logos are perfect, etc. Ai is not this detailed yet.
It’s too perfect.
It’s got to be a 3D render.
If it’s real then the OP’s photography lighting setup is impressive.
Its 100% not real. The most telltale sign I can see is the lack of reflection on the steam deck of the monitor or even the shade of the reflection does not line up.
It’s real, AI can’t do keyboards.
I’d say rendered. Every object is perfectly aligned with the x-y axes. No rotation at all.
For detail. XLmousepad looks like it is some kind of fabric. But closer inspection shows the edges nog having any hairs or discrepancies. The edges are as smooth as being made of plastic, and the whole thing is perfectly flat like a board.
It’s too perfect to be real. It’s definitely rendered. He said How do we like “this” set up, if it were real he’d go into more detail about it and refer it to himself or someone proudly.
100% not AI, 100% not rendered.
Just perfect lighting balance, contrast, clean objects.
No hate, but this is the biggest compliment OP can be given. Just great photos. Awesome, well done.
Didn’t OP post multiple angles of the picture? Mods deleted them cause it was irrelevant to the conversation but there were 3 different angles iirc.
Looks fake to me, looking inside the pc
Until i get different pictures i will stay by what i said in original topic,at least it is artificial. It isn’t real by any way, shape or form.Believe what you will.
Definitely not AI but good chance that it’s a rendering.
Imagine having a setup so good people think it’s AI generated.
If proven legit his post should pinned on top of the subreddit
Without looking at the comments and offering my own take, it’s definitely AI generated but with some after-the-fact editing and cleaning up.
There are maybe a dozen things that paint this as AI for me, but the #1 thing is the woman’s right ear in the wallpaper. Strand of hair going through it and looks very odd for a human ear.
You could make the argument that the wallpaper itself might just be AI generated, but you can also point to the “sound bar” or whatever that is below the monitor. Uses the exact same stitching as the desk and whatever that nonsense is that looks like some kind of control panel and buttons.
Other small things include the pattern on the switch joycons. Black cuts off in the middle of the bottom button on the right joycon but covers the entirety of the joystick on the left icon.
There are a few more I see that I won’t spend time on in this comment but if you’d like more, ask me
Real or not it’s actually not a great setup.
1. Single screen in 2024 is crazy. No explanation needed.
2. Desk mounts are inferior to monitor arms. They take up way to much space, can’t adjust heights and positioning, harder to clean etc
3. Speakers elevated but angled upwards and outwards past where the listener would be positioned.
4. Why is there a switch, MacBook, iPad and so many other random gadgets cluttering the space.
