I’m in the same boat. But it’s a blessing as well as curse. Since our time is limited, we can prioritize quality, and reject bloat/filler/grinding/season passes.

I’ve become very picky with which games I’d play these days

Honestly I’m more free than you are, but for it’s hard to get excited for games that have such high settings, my PC isn’t weak by any means, but some are just ridiculous.
For example I’m very excited about forever winter, since it looks like it has a really cool concept, but at minimum it requires a 2080 super and a ryzen 7 3700x, which are relatively high settings.

39 with kids and a full time job I will say it’s all about prioritizing what you need to do and limiting other hobbies.
I quit painting Warhammer and doing DND games because I just don’t have the free time to even meet people in public anymore. So I play an hour a day and if I’m off the next day and it’s a big launch I just communicate with my wife and she’s ok with taking care of the boys a few hours the next morning so I can sleep in, but then I do extra when I wake up.
I will say it’s easier to pick and choose what I want to play now. If I see a game and think “ I’ll make 0 progress in that daily with just an hour “ I don’t play it.

Isn’t this that one game whose entire trailer is the devs using every buzzword to promise they’re one of the good ones and will do everything gaming consumers want and not what the corporate CEOs want, and nothing about the actual game?

It’s why i think the water system will just not work in practice as the vast majority of players won’t be interested in being punished for having busy lives
So it will either be something so trivial you might as well not have it.
Or punishing enough it just pisses off the majority of players.
Its defo one of those sounds cool in theory until you realise people’s lives are more just playing games
However i am willing to at least see it in practice first before casting final judgment and the devs can change it in EA if it just doesn’t work

I slave away with 60-70 hour weeks for 7 months then I have 5 months off work. My 2 week average on Steam goes from about 5 hours when I’m working to about 50 when I’m not lol

Age doesn’t really mean anything.
Choosing to take on additional responsibilities, such as having children or filling your schedule with other commitments, is a personal decision.
Many responsible adults with a full time job and a good life still manage to find more than just a couple of hours a week to enjoy their passions, including gaming.
