38,000 years later and the jerrycan’s design is still unchanged

Why change something that isn’t broken?

  2. areyoueventhough

Dont even get me started on the barrels on the left

There are lots of designs that haven’t changed in hundreds or even thousands of years. The materials they’re made with might get updated, but the same basic design is still there. Stuff like cups and most utensils, hammers, shovels, umbrellas, candles.

Can’t beat a perfect design. Why change it?

I see at least 6 things in this picture that are in use today.

  7. Can’t improve on perfection. I bet they have duct tape too.

When every single ounce of your societies creative and engineering power goes into perpetual war you don’t leave much room for some guy to redesign a closed bucket for moving gasoline, I guess.

Look at the barrels, too. The Imperium kept them that way for thousands of years so that people can quickly identify things that explode and damage enemies in case a video game were to ever break out.

The god ol ‘Ma Deuce is also still in use. Different name but still there.

Heavy Stubber if I am not mistaken.

It’s a functional STC output. It’s efficient, convenient, and handles well.

Autoguns are basically unchanged from a modern firearm.  Hell 1st Rogue Trader had the 1911 by name iirc.

i bet jerry is very happy they never changed his design

Rugged, easy to carry, cheap to make.

    Why change it?

You can make pretty good hooch in a jerry can

  19. Svartrhala

Jerrycan was created to optimize fuel storage and delivery. Easily stackable, bulging and crumpling prevention, airtight anti-vacuum lid, three handles to carry alone or together. Now when was the last time Imperium of Man did ANYTHING to make lives and work of it’s subjects more convenient? Thank God (emperor) they didn’t invent a servitor that carries gasoline in it’s stomach.

The single greatest piece of German engineering. Without flaw.

  21. seberick

Plot twist, the Emperor designed them originally and brought them back for the great crusade/imperium.

  22. Extension-Rabbit3654

Yeah, bolts and rivets still in use today, those are 150ish years old at least

  23. Please for love a God put name of the game in the title. Not everybody knows what you are playing

A wise man by the name of charlie sheen once said. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it and if it is broke, who gives a rat’s ass?” I agree with the sentiment in this case.

You can just say 40,000 years in the future. It’s the 42nd millenium at this point in the timeline.
