Why not just use implants ?

Why not just take a vaccine? There will always be some people that don’t trust modern medicine and technology. Not trying to start a debate, just using it as an example.

Probably because he can’t afford them.

You still have to recover from the surgeries and do physical therapy to learn how to use the new chrome. While we don’t have to do this in the game because it’s not fun, it’s part of the game rules if I understand correctly. I’ve never actually played pen and paper variants Cyberpunk. Choom might have a fancy new cyberware set that they can’t use right now.

They could also be downgrading to organic because it’s cheaper and requires less maintenance and have to build up the muscle to lift the chrome still in them with their ‘ganic muscles.

Some people cannot have certain implants due to complete rejection, it’s extremely rare in universe but it still happens.

One ex tiger claw who’s a clothes vendor said he couldn’t have chrome legs because of damage spine smh. Maybe some damages re irreversible and you need some spinal cord somewhere. This vendor said he got cast out of his gang because of that

Maybe it is an implant…bottom surgically attached.

not everything can be solved by cyberware my dude. tech can’t fix everything. the body is still the body in the end.

that’s kinda one of the big themes of the game, my dude. do you pay attention to the game or button mash through the dialogue and story so you can get to the murder faster

Nerve and synapse damage can limit your ability to use chrome safely.

He is faking it. That wheelchair is most likely some disguised super weapon.

Maybe the implants didn’t take? V learns this is possible in one of the endings.

Well he might have like ALS or some other neurodegenerative disease. Those are not yet treatable but if they are (like multiple sclerosis – 700k per monthly session – by some TV ad in the game) they are very expensive.

Simple: So he can cut the line at Disney theme parks and/or airport security lines and pretend to be more important than everyone else.
