Like, do some people just lack the knowledge of what a properly formatted email should look like, what proper graphics and images should look like and how they should be placed, or just common sense in general? If you are scammed by something THIS obvious, I think that you probably shouldn’t be using a PC online at all, at least not entering any personal Information on them. How do I teach my older family to spot out the scams and fake emails? They don’t seem to understand the differences when I show them a genuine email. Unfortunately, it’s probably mainly older (or I guess extremely younger) people who actually fall for this and lose money. Ugh it makes me so mad.

I really enjoy how the bar graph is only a little over halfway but it says “48.9GB/50 GB”
They couldn’t even make/find a graph that was almost full.
If I was the kind of person to fall for this, looking at that it looks like I have loads of space. They need to stress me out with the bar graph. Only have a sliver of black showing haha
the thing i don’t understand is why they make fakes this bad, if they really wanted to scam a lot of people then why don’t they make it look like a real email? it’s literally not that hard to do that but 99% of scam emails i get look nowhere near as if they are actually from that comapny/service they try to impersonate.
but yeah older people fall for that, i just told my grandma and parents to show me the email if they aren’t sure if it’s real.
Even when it’s authentic it’s still a fucking scam.

The best thing we as a community can do is teach the people we love not to click on links.
People should be required to take an Internet literacy course, especially if you’re over a certain age.
I work for tech support. I ran out of fingers for how many times people fall for this kind of scam crap – **in a day.**
This is by design. They are specifically targeting dumb people as only dumb people will fall for it.
This way the scammer doesn’t waste time chasing leads that aren’t going to follow through.
The whole point is that it’s hard to fall for it. That way, when someone *does*, the scammers don’t have to waste their time convincing them. They don’t have to worry about them getting suspicious and backing out at the last minute. Targeting only the most gullible yields the best ratio of effort vs payout.
This could be a scam when they’re tricking in some other users.
