Anyone have a power supply that’s old enough to vote?

  1. The power supply of my XT Clone is 38 years old, still fine

I’ve got a PSU old enough to rent a car without fees or restrictions.

my old keyboard was old enough to vote, but i generally go through a power supply every 3 years on average, so… no..

My first PC power supply was a 486. That was almost 30 years ago.

I’ve got that exact psu running my vm host 😂

Old enough to vote in human years or PSU years?

Nah. I’m paranoid about anything with that much power going through it being that old.

My last one was old enough for a learner’s permit.

I had one of those HX620/corsairs 1st PSU, and it was still working fine when I gave it away 5-6 years ago. It was unrated I think, but basically the same as that Seasonic Bronze 620 that they sold for a decade after. Solid PSU.

I still have my PSU from before that corsair. OZC something stream 520 watt. I used it to test a mobo last week, and was reminded how much I disliked Molex.

I have a EVGA G1 1000W 80 plus gold that I’m still using that is running me solid on my build. Bought it in August 2014.

My current one is about 8 or 9 years old now. Planning on getting a new one soon 😂

I still have an old PC-AT that I got in 85 with the original power supply that still works great. I still have some other even older systems. However, I have not powered them up in the last 5 years, so cannot say they are still running. I collect some retro systems.

  13. My seasonic will in about 4 years. Gonna teach it to drive next year

I’m getting close, I have a 1200W Thermaltake in my second PC that was purchased when I did a previous PC build in 2012-ish. It has powered 3 system setups now over the last 12 years.

It was my primary PSU until I did a full rebuild about 2 years ago and my main system now runs an EVGA PSU.

Had a PC Power and Cooling power supply that lasted me about 13 years before it died.

I read you should replace/retire your PSU at around 12 years as the wiring gets funky from being heated up for so long. Def worth getting a new one just in case.

PC Power and cooling Silencer 750 Watt. The red crossfire one. Probably 2003.

Not quite, I’ve got an Antec Basiq that’s over 13 yrs old, it can sign up for a Myspace account.

I must admit to a murder. I killed mine. That poor Corsair never stood a chance when that glass of water spilled right into it. But I have to give it credit. It may have died but nothing else did. It gave me 18 good years, till that fateful evening

  21. DerpMaster2

The factory power supply for my Atari 2600 “heavy sixer,” released in 1977.

So… old enough to be president of the United States, and in 3 more years it will qualify for AARP.

My oldest is a corsair ax850. It’s 12 and going strong.

I respect it but I just don’t trust power supplies that long. Plus there’s always a connector that changes and I refuse to use adapters for anything power related.

My oldest PSU is from 2017 and I’ve kinda been looking for an excuse to replace it. That excuse may or may not be a new GPU in the near future that needs the new 12v connector.
