We will never get a sequel to this masterpiece

Not every game needs a sequel and this is a prime example of one that wouldn’t. It’s a perfect one-off narrative that a sequel would just muddy.

I honestly don’t think it needs a sequel, it had the perfect ending.

Why exactly does it need a sequel? What on earth would it include? The Ark finding it’s way to an alien species after 100,000,000 years?

I would like a remaster, but that’s about it.

The sequel follows the Simon we left behind at Omicron. It’s just 6 hours of Simon having an existential crisis and slowly losing his mind, listening to the robot girl crying on the other side of the door, until Simon eventually runs out of power and shuts down for good.

Doesn’t need a sequel, would make a great film or novel though

How would you even have a sequel? You would either go with the MC personality copy still on Earth and get to experience crippling loneliness for all eternity or you play as the copy in the paradise living a perfect life? There’s no game here to sequel into. Some games don’t need sequels this is one.

For arguments sake you could do a prequel and experience the downfall of Earth maybe. But I don’t know how good that would be as a game as we already know everything is doomed.

Why does everything require a sequel, franchise, reboot and remaster ?

I’ve never even heard of this game, but for some reason I was instantly reminded of The Song of Saya.

  9. SeventhSealRenegade

To be fair, there’s not much to sequel. It told the story.

  10. I saw a poster of this game in a movie yesterday, it reminded me how awesome this game was!

The movie is called Unfriended: Dark Web

Of course you won’t, it’s a self contained story that has an ending, not sequel bait.

  12. it doesn’t need one, every human is dead, the ark has only digital copies of some human brains, any sequel would be just dumb.

And we don’t have to, normalize leaving a title at a great point instead of milking it till you damage it’s reputation, cause that will most of the time

I uh…..don’t think there’s much to sequel. The ending was pretty final in multiple ways. There’s always games like Observer though that have a similar vibe. Not every story needs a part 2. Agreed it is a banger though.

Why do people say it doesn’t need a sequel? Every game can be expanded upon no matter what the story is or how it ends.

I used to also believe this until I played the game Outer wilds (btw one of the best games of all time imo) I finished the game and thought “man that was perfect I wish there was more but I guess that’s it”. Until the the devs announced a DLC for the game. Of course I was scared to play it and outright refused to play it, until people said it’s actually really good, and holy shit it fucking slapped not only it was good but it made the world overall more enjoyable because it added a little bit of details we never knew we were missing.

And while Soma doesn’t *need* a sequel it can have it. Every game can have it.

I got 1 friend to play this after talking about it for years. He hated the gameplay but pushed through for the story. Masterpiece doesn’t even begin to describe how good this game is

  17. I think a remake with better graphics and game mechanics would be preferable to a sequel

  18. Dorthonin

This game is for me the most terrifyng horror story i have experienced so far. Absolutely love that game.

  19. There’s no need for a sequel, this is the perfect example of a great game that doesn’t need one. Not every game does. Also they have made the Amnesia series and The Bunker is amazing, let them be creative and do what they want
