My friend has never had a reddit account before so I'm posting on a throwaway on thier behalf as this just happened.

My freind saved up to get a desktop because thier laptop wasn't powerful enough to play games with their friends, only to get it stolen :/ (they don't have money for a replacement)

They need this computer not just for gaming. Thier livelihood depends on having a pc that isn't overheating and falling apart. There was security cameras in the mail room to thier appartment complex, however less than an hour before arriving to pick it up someone had the audacity to rip appart the box and take it anyway. They have filed a police report and the appartment complex is aware of the incident. I feel so bad 🙁

I JUST noticed this after posting:

It appears that the boxes in the two photos are completley different. One being red on top in the Amazon delivery photo and the other orange. VERY strange

Hate a thief and God bless your friend. When I have PC parts coming in the mail, I meet mail lady at the mailbox. Zero hangout time for PC parts

get a refund on amazon? i don’t know what country you’re from but if you get amazon hub boxes I’m sure the delivery driver can do better than leaving a clearly expensive piece of tech outside of a communal postal locker. Very easy dispute with amazon and if not I’d go to the bank and open a chargeback case against it with this evidence

Weird that the package did not have a one time pin or signature required. Who did the delivery? Why did the thief not take the whole box? Contact Amazon, with the police report details (it must be viewable from the web for the Amazon CAP team), they will make you wait a minimum 3 days to investigate, and then they will ask you to call back

Dont buy high value items on Amazon.

  6. Find it weird for the thief to take the time to open the box to take it and then repack the filler stuff and then leave rather than just walk off with it fully boxed.

Delivery drivers are brain dead. 🤷‍♂️

That’s a weird proof of delivery photo. I know all Amazon delivery people are in a hurry, but mine have at least always shown the packages in the center of the photo. Why they chose to show it barely in frame, off to the side is odd. You see more of the mail boxes than of the actual product.

You’ll probably have a replacement/refund. But we’ll have two people as a part pf pcmasterrace.

If the thief flips that PC, fuck it!

A PC being dropped off to a hallway? Something like that should only be dropped off upon signing.

Meh. Couple things I have to say

    * I’m sorry that’s fucked lol
    * no shit someone stole it I hope you only order expensive things if you’re available to pick it up right when it’s delivered going forward
    * I’ve learned the same tough lesson. If you order something, be extra aware of delivery times. Nowadays i can’t imagine ordering something over a hundred bucks and not be sitting at the window waiting for it (or at my desk constantly refreshing my phone in case you live in an apartment)
    * if your pal ordered this on Amazon, YES. You can get a refund/replacement. Just don’t fuck this up again lol

Maybe op is the thief is is making a ruse. Shows his mate the reddit post, like look see I’m trying to solve this with you brother. Goes home to a mad pc. Lol (obviously not serious to the multiplying autists out there).

if their livelihood depends on it they should have made arrangements to safely take delivery. Its called being an adult.

Go and talk to Amazon support they will very likely refund it. I had something similar happen with a power supply I ordered. Normally they drop it off at my door, but for some reason the delivery guy decided to drop off the package at the publicly accessable mail boxes. By the time I came back (a couple of days later since I was out on vacation) it was gone.
But Amazon agreed to a refund.

  15. Lmao who the fuck just left it hangin like that?

Sorry but you friend doesn’t seems like a very smart fella to me, who the hell buys a PC just to have it delivered at a random hub and not at their home?
