They look 20% better than 10 year old game (and not all of them) and demand x10 resources.
I mean i understand 8k textures, rtx, etc, but if i doesn’t improve visual, what’s the point?

That said…if you run a game on a $1700 GPU that there is literally nothing better than in existence at the moment, it should run at least at 60 FPS unless you have bought like an 8K monitor or something. Making parameters that exceed current reality is a dick move from the devs.
Sad_Aioli6843
ok, except new games shouldnt require a 4090 or 7900 to run.
Believe it or not back before 2015 it was normal to be able to play new games on high-max settings on cards 1 or 2 generations old.
its not all the devs fault either, the corps want the same quality games out faster and faster, which forces the devs to take shortcuts they may not want to make.

What a shit take. Games used to be able to run maxed out in native resolution at 60 fps on high end PCs. Can’t imagine the terrible feeling spending $4000 on a PC to then get 30-40 fps in native 4K.

Hey, don’t know if you heard about this… But new games are poorly optimized

So I’m older, and this idea that some video card should run every game at ultra settings is really quite a new idea. It’s really never been the case. Back in “the day”, when Halflife 2 and and Doom 3 came out, I remember talking to the “guy” at Best Buy seeing if my set up could run them and he made the comment “No video card can run these at high settings”. I think it was something we accepted back then. Crysis 1 came out, same thing. But if I recall it didn’t piss anyone off. Granted video cards weren’t 2k at the time, or maybe they were accounting for inflation. Anyway I’m not quite at yelling at clouds age yet, just my 2 cents.

Why do I feel like first and second panels should switch places for no particular reason?

1080p and 1440p are perfectly fine, but you have all these people with sub optimal PCs running games with 4k monitors and maxed settings you wonder why their performance is garbage.
Look at my Specs, Since I added the 4080 Super nothing has really changed in performance, my 1060 ran just as good at 1080p other than running hotter than the 4080 Super, but that is 1080p. I wish I could test 1440p or 4k, but my monitors doesn’t support those resolutions.
If you have my specs and you run games at 4k an get over 60fps that should be a GG there. But some expect over 100 fps.

They aren’t though 😭

We should normalize 4k120fps to push the limit.

We say games today are unoptimized because visuals didn’t improve as much since last gen, but a $2000 struggles to run them maxed out @ 4k (and 4k is not new, people play 4k games for a while now)
And it goes to consoles too. How the fuck can a PS5 game run 720p upscaled to 4k to keep 30fps? DLSS is a new technology and we didn’t need it until 5-6 years ago, now the companies are using it as handicap. 6 years ago the minimum was “this game can run 60fps max settings @ 1080p/1440p native”
Now the acceptable is “this game can run 360p upscaled to 4k high settings without ray tracing”
I remember rocking a 1060 6gb as my first build, and I could run any release at least high settings 1080p. Now my 3070 struggles with medium settings 1440p lol
