Looking forward to seeing how big of a difference this actually makes

That’s the second or third time they do that. The game has to be redownloaded from scratch every dozen or so updates.

Has it been fixed so I can play it on a modern PC without my character continually freezing as I walk around? All of the solutions I found online were to limit the fps, which is not a solution.

Would be very cool if it’s as good as the recent Call of Duty resize.

My Fallout 76 folder size is 122 gigs right now.

I play it using Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on my PC.

The upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator will also be a good deal smaller too.

Looking forward to that because the current game size (200+ gigs) was a bit of a turnoff for me.

I loved NV, 3 , and 4 took a bit to grow on me but loved it.

I can not get into 76. I tried. The perk system seems really weird to me. Cards? Upgrade? What?

And the fps… my 4060ti is chugging hard. Are bullets tied to fps? Seems like my gun shoots faster if I go low settings.

  5. Zenimax did the same for Elder Scrolls Online once, its a good decision

Iirc Bungie on the other hand just “vaulted” older DLCs for Destiny 2 so fuck you if you bought em lol

would this be development cost vs. server bandwidth/hosting costs?

Vermintide 2 did it last year. Reduced the size from about 100gb to 50-60

  8. I’m wondering what they’re really doing here. Given you can patch and patch and patch, I wonder if eventually they go “OK, let’s consolodate it all into one base file, and *actually* overwrite the old records with the new ones, instead of just leaving them hanging out on disk.” Sort of how old versions of Word would add changes to the end of the file so it didn’t have to re-write the whole file to the floppy on every save.

Or whether they’ve actually rearranged it more than just “get rid of the old crap” and actually updated file formats or something to be smaller.

Bethesda is an inept studio. Change my mind.
