1940s Lovecraftian city, THE MOON, a WWI battleground with giant robots, The Titanic, a Purgatory Prison, and many more.

I do miss it but as long as they don’t do the Cold War settings of “military facility, military facility, street corners of Berlin, military facility” I’m fine with it

So far the prison on terminus and the town of liberty falls are a good change of pace from the repetition that was Cold War zombies locations

    Personality? Pfff what is that?

Can I offer you a generic facility in these trying times ?

  3. I think an issue that people seem to ignore to why we might not be getting these settings anymore is because now Zombies is attached to the main games stories. We can never get another Moon or an Easter egg where we blow up a planet. I truly think connecting zombies to the main games stories is a big issue to why we aren’t seeing these types of maps anymore

Fictional world war trampled by giant mechanica

Island prison full of notorious criminals

The mythical ancient city of shangri-la

    …West Virginia…

Who tf thought this was cool? Why are AAA companies obsessed with West Virginia?

Fallout, the division, now cod. Seriously we dont want dinky rural town West Virginia map man.

When TranZit has more atmosphere than Liberty Falls you know somethings wrong.

Honestly its a little funny you use the map that reuses 4 or 5 areas from other maps with minimal original areas as your example. I get your point but there are so many better maps to use

The sad thing about cw is that the maps could’ve actually looked great if they didn’t rely on the military base locations. Firebase z for example would look great if built off of the spawn area and made a city type map. Foresaken could be a burger town type map. Maur can be pretty much the same. Just remove the military parts of the map. It would still be similar, but it a bunch of cities and towns they go to and now instead of military bases. Firebase z would especially look great if they had made the whole map look similar to the spawn area.

The dark aether story is set in way more realism then stories in the past so all the unique crazy places that maps use to take place in simply would not make sense in the dark aether story

If it meant paying for maps again to have this quality I would do it, 10 dollars a map like in bo3 and for the bonus map in bo4 was always a good trade but guess wz goblins keep making bundles more profitable. Not to mention its becoming more ai made bundles lol

I feel like we can still have cool locations. The boss fight in The Archon (yes vanguard bad but this was one of the few good things in the game) and the final boss fight in MWZ had really great Dark Aether settings comparable to those of previous treyarch games. They just need to use those settings more. Like the dark aether looked great in Liberty Falls’ church so it’s baffling that they only used it in one room.

What? You don’t like a generic ass warzone looking like town?

I feel like treyarch’s trying too hard to have zombies take place at the same time as the campaign and mp. Just because they’re set in the 90’s doesn’t mean zombies has to be as well. I mean bo4 was set in the future but it still had zombies maps set in the past.

I hope they disconnect the story from campaign because we need some crazy fucking maps. Like give me Atlantis, a city in the clouds, an ancient medieval city, something that’s fucking out there that you just couldn’t find anywhere else

The Moon, Alcatraz, Jungle Temple, Old West Town, Titanic, Colluseum, all iconic and interesting settings for a zombie outbreak but… Inconspicuous Military Base #5 looks so cool!

If they make it stick to the campaign then we won’t get maps like this cause it doesn’t match modern cod but….

Treyarch can easily branch off what zombies is to the campaign, revamp it while keeping storyline in check but taking a detour and fully committing to what a dystopia could be. Imo I think the fact that they are using characters from the campaign is fine but where it messes up is when you try and say zombies connects to the campaign cause now you put restrictions/restraints on what you can and can’t do.

Zombies does not look bad and for what it’s worth the only way they can go is up(fan reaction should give everyone a nudge on what the community would like more of)
