From my experience working in a repair shop early in my career, this generally only happens on machines that havent been dusted for long periods.
I’ve dusted my personal machines with an electronic blower every month or so for my entire life and have never killed a machine.

Yeah it happens to me all the time too…
Because i usually pull it off the plug, turn off the switch in the back of the tower, on the PSU. I then clean it and plug it in and try to start it and EVERY single time i forget to turn on the switch and give my self a heart attack…

I’ve never had this happen, maybe if you used a feather duster or something.

Only had a problem once and it was cuz RAMs were not slotted correctly

I’d say the biggest problem is the lingering threat of ww3

Why would this happen? I read somewhere that spinning the fans may create current spike that may kill something but what else would cause any damage?

Meanwhile im over here dusting off my pc with a pancake air compressor for the past 5 years without a single issue

Clean installed win11 yesterday. Only way to get out of dev build. Boot priority was correct, Windows installed, when it was finishing up couldnt detect either ssds. Stuck on an infinite repairing pc boot loop. Same face, went to bed cuz it was 1AM. Couldnt sleep, woke up. Removed the second ssd to see if it detects the first one. It works. PC is such a fickle bitch. I can see why people prefer consoles.
