Zune was cool, but the metadata handling was horrrrrible. I spent days as a teenager trying to get the Zune software to handle metadata correctly so it would sync properly to my 80GB Zune.

Mine died during my deployment like 15 years ago. It was the HDD version too. Luckily I found a crappy little RCA MP3 player that held like 30 songs.

Fun story. My buddy worked at gamestop around the Zune era as a 3rd key manager. They let his manager and assistant manager go and didn’t hire replacements for over 3 months, leading to him single handedly running the store the whole time on 3rd key manager pay ($8.50 an hour).
In retaliation, they got a shipment of Zunes and he gave them out to all of his friends. And that’s how I got a Zune.
They obviously caught him, fired him, took him to court, and he had to pay the cost of the Zunes back.
See, fun story.
