I’ve gotten to the attack of the radioactive thing boss fight twice today and I’ve died both times because of this. I have no idea what killed me. Could anyone explain what is killing me?

I think you’re standing right where the final laser spawns
There is a fortune card you can use specifically to basically skip this step with 0 risk of death.

looks like Lazer spot. why not just navigate the lazers? or if you prefer this method, just run right to the bomb. you literally stepped back into the Lazer path……
Poor decision choices
That fight is extremely buggy. Also, as some guys noted, it seems you were standing on a laser spawn.
