I did this with a cheap metal kitchen chair that used rivets to fix the back support. It did not last more than a week before those cheap rivets popped out, leaving me with no back support whatsoever.

If you live in a hot and humid country and can’t turn on AC 24/7, I actually prefer a wooden chair. We have a bunch made from bamboo, and it’s pretty cold and compy for my butt.
