First things first when you have a new game

  1. motion blur is a crime but film grain can make some games look much better imho

  2. anteloop

Per-object motion blur is sick, especially when implemented well.

I’m fine with motion blur when something goes fast. For racing games when you hit boost for example. Obviously it’s stupid if it blurs every time you walk forward or turn around.

I don’t see why people hate motion blur. I’ve never had a problem with it in all my years of gaming unless I was playing a game at 60fps,

    I LIKE motion blur.

Film grain can absolutely go FUCK itself though. I have visual snow IRL, I don’t need it in my games.

  6. You skipped Chromatic Aberration. Shame on you. It’s worse than any motion blur.

    -motion blurr
    -depth of field
    -film grain
    -lens flare
    -chromatic aberration
    -voice chat

Having sliders for camera and object motion blur is great since I really like object motion blur but camera blur is gross.

  9. I will never understand film grain. Effect that was a side effect of not having a strong/good enough camera and for some reason developers on some games force this without an option to remove it….

Doing everything we can to make the image as clear as possible and you basically add snow to the entire screen

Nope. First thing in every and any game; Music = Off. Music just ruins the sounds and vibes of a game

  11. PSYCH00M

does somebody have a reason as to why it’s on by default on nearly every single game? motion blur among a dozen others are some of the most useless settings out there and are always on by default for some God forsaken reason

  12. JaymesGames

    I’m gonna say it….

    I like motion blur

  13. Diuranos

Blur on medium or looks chopy on your gameplay. Chromatic always off.

Honestly the only time I have it above ‘none’ is the few games it looks ‘ok’ on when low. There’s certain situations it looks more realistic, especially stuff like cyberpunk 2077. Either way I wish to hell that was the default for more games.

  15. mrvictorywin

That’s me but with everything on low / off

  16. CarlWellsGrave

I like motion blur but the other two are a crime against humanity.

  17. Any_View_4050

Nice slideshow. I can see each imdividual frame.

  18. Restivethought

I definitely dont turn film grain off on every game. Turning it off on a Fatal Frame or Silent Hill is pretty blasphemous.

  19. AdCompetitive2834

And turn off v-sync. I also like to keep my shadows low or medium but that’s just preference.

  20. I don’t have to do that cause the game auto configs to low and gets 20 fps.

    I need a new rig.

  21. MrMadoSan

I actually like film grain, makes realistic games look better, like they’re shot on film

  22. Gameskiller01

per object motion blur is great, fight me. camera motion blur is awful though. good that they give you the option to adjust them separately

  23. burner7711

Don’t forget to check frame rate cap and vsync under display.

  24. ThisDumbApp

Everyone is forgetting the audio volume of games here, I loaded up a game I redownloaded last night and the settings got reverted and I had ringing in my ear it was so loud
