Photobashing images, Still a work in progress.
One of the images I am working on in a series of images with India as the base and punk world elements added into it. (Cyberpunk, solarpunk etc)
Thoughts and critique are appreciated 🙂

The thing about why people tend to call many East Asian cities cyberpunk is because of how much they’ve industrialized and modernized. This kind of just looks as though you slapped on a bunch of LED lights to an existing location and added some degrading concrete buildings. Which can be realistic given how India is focusing on building concrete buildings for some strange reason. These aren’t really what they are building.

There are these massive slums in India. Wealth inequality is often at massive extremes in India. But this is just a tourist location with a fancy name from its past. It hasn’t really seen much change due to its history and location and because of this there likely no real plan to develop the area any further. It’s too high risk.

Honestly given the current situation with Climate Change the Chor Bazaar will likely be underwater. But the idea of it or the urban legend are still pretty cool. It makes me think of quite a few things.

I see your usage of concrete but concrete is actually a really bad choice for building material so close to the ocean. But I guess it also feels more realistic of a choice too.

The tale of South Asia seems fairly odd when you consider it’s geographical disadvantages and the fact they don’t really benefit much with existing global trade routes. But how it’s leadership has also responded as well has been a mess. And one that’s seen Indias and other parts of South Asia progress to the mid 21st century stall out.

There were plans to include Bangalore into Deus Ex: Human Revolution which sadly were scrapped due to budget reasons. I’d say go for it, I would like to see a different take on the genre.
