Had three of those and turned one into a Hackintosh. One of the other three was my daughter’s first laptop.

Considering getting on of those n100 8″ laptops.

These little ePCs got me through college in the ’00s when I couldn’t afford anything more.

I really wonder that things specs like imagine a x86 running device that is small as phones these days

Man I miss my little netbook with its dual core AMD, thing was a trooper.

  5. MrSydFinances

I had just the same laptop! So small and convenient when other laptops were massive slabs of plastic! Sad that they died out of fashion.

Here comes a sentence this subreddit makes me keep saying surprisingly. Ok I’ll bite wtf am I looking at?

  8. Lostdotfish

Is that a 901? Loved mine. Took it with me when I was working ski seasons. Played Warcraft 3 like a champ!

I bought a couple still in the box at the church Swap Shop. 25usd a piece so I gave them to the kids. 8 and a 7 year old. Their friends are jealous. Slick little piece of hardware, works great for the kids.

If you bought that as brand new this year, thats a-sus.

    Ah yes, the Netbook era

I had one of these as well with WinXP, later installed ChromeOS onto it and used it for a few more years for Internet browsing from the couch. Battery life was actually pretty outstanding

Reminds me of the One Laptop Per Child Program laptop. Fedora based laptop that had a legit hand crank to recharge the battery.

  14. I remember these with the Intel Atom

    Netbooks were pretty cool

  15. multiwirth_

To think about that even a old Pentium M at the time was faster than those netbooks with Atom CPUs back in the day is quite funny.

Girls would come up and ask me about my laptop when I used to daily an Eee 900 back in 2008/9-ish. True story.

  17. Hanneman_213

I think it could be featured in a Michael MJD or Action Retro video.

Well, the OS is better than in an iPad 😉

“Better” meaning that you can do more “computer” stuff on / with it.

  22. DumbusMaxim0

Its just like our current laptop that the goverment gave us for school XD

My very first computer I got was one of those Atom-based notebooks, the MSI Wind U130 to be specific. This thing went through so much abuse in its life, got dropped a bunch, was vomited on, has cracked plastics, snapped hinges, a blown charging circuit, a shorted and burned keyboard (!), a dead hard drive and a half-snapped display cable which I somehow managed to reconstruct with some old laptop screen cables, for some reason.

Aside from the battery charging circuit, it still works fine.

I really want to slap linux on one of these and use it to learn VIM.
