Starting my first playthrough tonight, and I’ve seen/heard very little about the game. Anything important I should know starting out?

Oh man oh man oh MAN! Are you in for a treat.
First thing: there’s lots of re-playability. Different life paths, builds, appearances, even attitudes to a degree. So don’t stress too much about seeing everything on your first game.
Second thing: Take your time, eavesdrop on NPC conversations, read computer messages and data shards (really helps flesh-out Night City).
    Third thing: Shotguns.

I wish you many happy hours, V.

Maybe have a build in mind? Honestly you should go in completely blind on a first playthrough

Do as many side quests as possible. Some may unlock new endings. So make sure to play them all. One of my most favourite quest is an optional quest.

Night city is absolutely amazing and designed like an actual city. Driving through the city looking at all the big set pieces is an experience. So try not to fast travel. I never had to.

Your skills, cyberware etc actually matters a lot and drastically change your gameplay. There are some really fun skills that gives you power trip – so explore and enjoy.

Have fun choom. And if you enjoy the game definitely buy the DLC – Phantom Liberty – twice as good as the base game and the base game is already awesome.

Explore the city where you will find legendary weapons and clothes. You will get some missions from people and also be prepared to cry a little

“The sun” is the only option

I will urge you to spoil – eventually – a single conversation in the entire game. There is an ending that is locked behind a series of three unassuming, relatively unimportant answers in one conversation at the midpoint of the game. The benefit for answering whatever you want is nonexistent. The benefit of giving the right three answers is enormous. The name of the quest is >!Chippin’ In!<

Also – always go back to fight for your comrades. Leave no one behind!

only buy cars if you really want it. You will get the fastest one after a mission

  8. GhoolishButtMonster

enjoy the ride & don’t rush the story. definitely do a lot of side quests & running around, you might find niche references or easter eggs – finally, all maelstrom should be considered KOS – have fun samurai you’ve got a city to burn 🔥

Maybe look at a build planner. It isn’t necessary but having some kind of cohesion will make the game more enjoyable overall.

Don’t be afraid to roll more than one V to try different things. There are so many ways to play this game.

Don’t wait to finish Act 1. The game really opens up after it; it’s really more of a prologue in my opinion.

Don’t sweat the lifestyle choice at the beginning of the game. It mostly affects dialog options later, and no one path is better than any other.

Take your time, and do not rush dialogue

There is nothing you should know if this is your first playthrough. Just play and enjoy your experience!

Make sure you check out all of the areas carefully before leaving. You’ll be glad you did.

close this tab right now. enjoy playing

Do everything. 2077 hides it’s absolute best content in random corners, far from the main story. Some of the best things I saw were just walking around Night City.

Go exploring. Hell, just ignore the story for 50 hours. It will be there waiting. And when you get to it, it will still be awesome. Also, walk a lot. You will see some of the best design in gaming.

Night City will break your heart. And if you havent watched Edgerunners, you should watch Edgerunners first.

Do all your side quests before you do main missions. You can get locked out of some side quests as you progress through the story, so it’s best to do them when you can.

Explore the city as much as possible. There’s a ton of loot to find around every corner.

    Have fun and avoid spoilers.

In terms of key choices and decisions, I highly recommend playing through blind for your first time. It is extremely likely that you will love this game and play through it again, so don’t look things up and try to get “the best ending” etc on your first time playing. Just play through and enjoy the process of making decisions and experiencing the consequences as you go. Then when you play through again (which you probably will – a lot of us have done so many times) you can poke around and find out what to do in order to get certain outcomes (if you want to, obviously… there’s nothing stopping you from playing through blind multiple times also)

This is advice I struggle to take myself with branching games, but I’m trying to get better about it lol.

But all the various paths in Cyberpunk are awesome, so whatever you do you’re going to have a great experience. I would definitely recommend trying to avoid looking up outcomes.

Do all the side jobs, all gigs, all cyberpsycho sightings, everything you can possibly do before each major story mission. Explore as much as possible, there are a TON of hidden weapons, items, Easter eggs and things like that across the whole map. And most importantly, enjoy yourself. This, in my personal opinion, is one of the best games of all time. Story is really well done, characters are supreme, combat is crisp and fun and amazing. Have fun choom.

There will come a point when you’ll tell your friend that you’ll see him in the major leagues. It’s okay if it breaks your heart; it broke ours, too.

This isn’t a game. It’s an existential meditation on what matters in life.

I would say Do all the initial ncpd stuff available at the start to get yourself some quick money, levels and to get familiar with the combat and test out how you’re gonna wanna play. Pursue your love interest quest line first do there’s more time that passes and gives you all the different options for dialogue and whatnot. Grab the iguana egg on the heist mission in the penthouse and also hit the roof to get the sword up there because you can’t get either of them later. Make hanako wait forever.

  21. Intelligent_Art9219

Make Hanako wait as long as possible!

  22. Joecolt69420

If you wanna level up fast as hell, then do all the police scanner quests, gigs, and side quests.

  23. Maxwellspace

If you want to get really powerful so powerful that you can walk through all the story missions with relative ease. Start doing as many ncpd scanner missions untill they are all gone. Theres tons of them and it helps you get very powerful

Cyberware tree is essential for every good build its required

Pick a favorite weapon type that you like to use and spec only towards that.

All other guns are salvage or go in your stash to collect dust

    Read everything

Be smart/generally intelligent in terms of reading and problem solving

Dont bother with snipers because you need to know the specific aiming settings thatll make it easier to actually use them. On the default settings it kinda sucks

( what i mean is that when you scope in its really hard to control vs hip fire)

Swords and throwing knives pair well

Sometimes theres two different weapon types in one skill tree

If you go netrunner you dont need gear as everything in the game will just die if you look at them funny
