Here are a couple pictures I took earlier with my CPU while I hed it out for a cooler RMA. This was the same chip that had a massive reduction in thermals from my previous post of 5800x30C drop. This is for those that were asking for pictures of IHS.
Even taking off the cooler showed that the center of the plate wasn't even with the sides. The last picture is what the chip looked like after cleaning it up after a LM application and the other two are the rough semifinal versions of the final lap. I figured I'd be able to decrease temperature even more since I had such crazy results my first attempt and I didnt believe it to be fully flat.

yeah it is somewhat common, I assume mine also had it.
