Over the last few days I've been testing out the performance of my build with a 7600X cpu + PowerColor Hellhound 7900 GRE gpu. I don't own any games yet, so I've just been running benchmarks for now to get the system all ready.
I ran benchmarks for Time Spy, Time Spy Extreme (4K), Steel Nomad, CPU Profile, and Night Raid. Current GPU tunings are as follows:
– Min 500mhz / Max 2803mhz core clock frequency
– 980mv undervolt
– 2590mhz VRAM clock frequency (default timings)
– +15% PL
My results for Time Spy, Time Spy Extreme, and Steel Nomad appear to be pretty stellar. For this particular GPU-CPU combination, I hold the:
- 9th highest user score for Time Spy (1000+ samples)
- 2nd highest user score for Time Spy Extreme (50 samples)
- 4th highest user score for Steel Nomad. (500+ samples)
This is despite the fact that my system uses a budget A620i motherboard (no CPU overclocking), and the 3DMark CPU Profile score for my 7600X chip ranks in the bottom 30% of all samples.
But the one issue I've encountered so far is with the Night Raid benchmark – it crashes within 10 seconds of starting due to driver error. I was told that this benchmark is used for testing sustained max core clock speeds. Not sure how important that is.
So my question is, should I consider my system stable enough if it's passing all the benchmarks aside from Night Raid with flying colors? Or in other words, are there really that many games that are as demanding on the GPU as Night Raid is?
