Hell, my Lenovo business laptop came with so much rubbish software that I spent an hour uninstalling them all.
What’s with the stupid desktop ads that pop up near the time and date area – from antivirus, to Lenovo software, to printer software. It’s like having a small billboard on your desktop.

Just use Linux, it’s not like you have to learn a new operating system or something /s

I hope SteamOS gets to a point where we can use it for all games, so I can just dump Windows.

Friendly reminder that it takes less than 30 seconds to use a debloater script to remove any and all unwanted bloat / telemetry etc. without affecting the functionality of windows.

Yea my new laptop came with so much bloatware like what companys don’t make enough money so they install bloatware on it to earn more money or what.

Just remove the bootloader, you don’t need it and you won’t get as much bloat.

>Windows 11 uses 5GB RAM on idle
Well yes, that’s normal. Windows doesn’t use that amount for bloatware but for caching things so your most used apps are faster. When a program needs a lot of RAM, Windows will just free up this cache.
Also unused RAM = wasted RAM.

For those with no choice but to use Windows, install with time & currency format: “English (World),” and then change it back in settings to the correct format once you’ve set up the install. Had to install windows 11 for a family member and that trick about halved the time I normally spent bc a lot of the debloating was done
That being said you should still run a debloat script, what I described only helps some

I haven’t. It’s primary reason I didn’t buy pre built. That and I wanted voltage control and a decent uefi bios.
Windows pro license. Group policy to lock down WinUpdates behavior. There is policy specifically for Copilot.
That said my laptop obv is a pre built (HP)
And on that I’ve never seen such a stripped bios as the HP has. Insane. Then again I bet we’d all understand a bit better if we saw the average consumer calling support.

Well, people simply accept anything that MS does and won’t do anything about it.
