(spoilers obviously) During one of the endings, after finally having the biochip removed, V finds out they only have a couple of months left to live and are presented a choice.

Sign a legal binding terms and conditions contract and basically give Arasaka the rights to your soul, or go back to earth to say goodbye to friends and pass on.

It’s very scary how close we are to a reality like this.

I won’t go into details of the Disney incident. If you still don’t know, you can look that up easily

Yeah, we are. It’s the boring one though.

I feel like we are already close to having everything needed to basically create the relic IRL anyway.

AI could analyze all the data it could find on a person, all of their social media, etc. Then using something like neurolink that profile could be loaded into someone’s brain and then the chip just replaces their actions and responses with ones the AI would deem appropriate for the personality that was analyzed.

Cyberpunk is definitely the genre that captures where we are and where we’re heading the most. There are so many other genres and ways of extrapolating and projecting, but I always come back to cyberpunk as the most accurate and reflective.

Watch ARCHIVE on Netflix. Interesting take on the idea.
