Oh come on, it’s not that all power supplies from lesser known brands automatically explode. In fact Gigabyte power supplies exploded more than random brands not so long ago.
I had a random brand 9 years old power supply that is still working just fine.

I was that homie once. Bought a cheapo power supply from Amazon. Gamerstop or some funny name. When I got it and opened the box, the first thing I noticed was the strong smell of electrical fire coming from the psu. I looked it up and down but didn’t notice any obvious scorch marks. Right off the bat I didn’t trust it. I thought about and figured saving a couple hundred dollars wasn’t worth risking the rest of my hardware and shipped it back.

Yesterday my PSU of 6 years exploded. Thermaltake that I included in my rather cheap build back then. Problem is that in the meantime I got a new GPU, motherboard, RAM, CPU but never replaced the old PSU… today when the new one arrives I will see if something else got cooked

I had a psu die on me while visiting my parents at Christmas. They live in a much smaller town with only a single store I could find that sold psu’s. I needed at least 600 watts to power my system and the guy only had a single off brand 800 watt. It lasted about a week before it died. I’ll never buy off brand psu’s again.

it’s actually about stable electricity. office pcs can run on out of nowhere psus and be fine for years

Why don’t people realise a good power supply can last you 2-3 generations of PC upgrades.
And a bad one will take your ability to make any future upgrades.
If you’re building a new PC. Skimp on things that are relatively cheaper and can be added later. A branded Keyboard, mouse, more RAM, more Storage, branded RGB and fans all of that could be added 3-4-6 months down the line but that saves $20 can make your “Core” parts stronger and able to take more abuse further down the road.

Sadly I just had a three month old Seasonic pop so loud it woke the whole family up… Luckily it appears none of my components were damaged other than one case fan acting strange. Yet I’ve had 7 year old no names hum along without issue. RMA was easy enough.
