    Context:

Watching recent Zen 5 youtube reviews this came in my mind; Are we so used to Intel giving us minimal performance gains each gen that we are now extrememy dissapointed that AMD is doing it once now too? (But saving on power mind you)

Tend to agree, I said this over at AMD – Gaming aside, 9950x seems like a step up from 7950x in productivity. – 12% in blender, 10% in code compile, 5% in compression. Not every generation can be Zen 4. Obviously, gamers wait for X3D, and price will come down over time, but I just don’t have as much hate for these chips.

I wouldn’t say intel gets away with the minimal gains, I remember enthusiasts giving intel some flack with 11th gen, 14th gen, and some of 13th gen- since they upped power consumption a lot and the only improvements being more e-cores and some cache.

If anything, I think 7th gen should’ve been criticized a lot more. Granted, ryzen had just come out and most programs relied on fast single core performance. Suffice to say, there wasn’t much of a better choice at the time.

No. People were definitely as critical with 14th gen as with ryzen 9000.

  5. Fuck em for providing shit value, I refuse to make excuses for dog water products from a billion or trillion dollar companies, regardless which it’s for.

Zen 5 was made squarely with ai buzzword bullshit in mind and they’re passing the costs to the general consumer market (us) and lying about performance expectations. The least they could have done would have been to increase core counts (or maybe that’s what the recall and launch delay was about 🤷‍♂️)

    > I feel like people are overreacting.

    Yes.

  7. RedditBoisss

This isn’t accurate at all. People had been giving intel shit for years for their lackluster launches.

Yall wilding. All the PC subreddits are 24/7 ragging on Intel (And were doing this LONG before the recent Intel fiasco). Noone is coddling them. Just came from pcbuilds where someone asked “Which Monitor should I get, here are my specs” and the top comment was basically “LMAO. why would you have an Intel PC”.

That said, IMO the issue with the AMD 9000 series is more of pricing than performance. Why wouldn’t I just buy the 7000 series if its much cheaper and im only losing a few percentage points?

  9. It’s still fair to call it out. Intel was dragged for their 14+++++ refreshes. Ultimately the gaming performance increase is very small, while the productivity improvements are better it is less than what AMD stated.

the only people that would be bothered by this are those that buy a new cpu every time there’s a new model. I’m very happy skipping 3 or 4 generations for that “worth it” feeling. went from i5 2500 ( i think it was, long time ago) to i7 6700k to i7 10700k ( i love her so much ) and about to build new with i9 12900k ( i hope i love her as much)

the performance increase has been amazing every time. so satisfying.

I am worried that i’ll never find another like my current i7 tho. amazing overclocker, runs super cool and never crashes unless i fuck with it too much.

OPs trying to gaslight us like people weren’t recently shittng on Intel for 14th gen even if it was supposed to be a refresh of 13th

  12. Mobile-Art-7852

13 to 14 gen Intel got pretty much the same reaction. 10 to 11th too. No reason to be a “fan” of any brand really. They all want to give us less for more in the end.

  13. Xcissors280

But 4W doing day to day tasks is insane for a gaming laptop

  14. Drake_TheDrakeman

What? this is not accurate! people have been riding the underdog D for ages now.

  15. murden6562

And for that 5% increase Intel will increase the TDP by 20% 😂🤡

  16. People were more critical on intel than amd for this lol

  17. Takeasmoke

i honestly can’t remember when was the last time intel got praise, was it 8th gen?

  18. Proof-Most9321

This is not a meme, hit the nail on the head

  19. Intel, new generation every year. AMD took 2 years for faster blender score.

Intel deserves the shit storm but that does not excuse AMD for being even worse.

At least AMD took 1 year to do almost the same thing when they moved from Ryzen 1000 to 2000.

  20. stormdraggy

The only donkey is OP and their victimhood.

  21. Your_Receding_Warmth

AMD fanboys are genuinely the most annoying people in the tech world.
