Takes me 2 weeks to get anything from Amazon with prime so by the time return them it’s outside the 1 month….and i have to pay to ship back to the US.

He gave up trying to build a pc after the ram and a couple years later I upgraded so he got my old parts. Now he’s building again and having fun.

Threw a Mobo across a shop after their returns department told me there wasn’t a problem with its RAM slot, and wouldn’t RMA it.. I’d spent 3 hours wiggling slot 2 , watching it boot or not. Not my proudest moment, just saw red when I realised I’d lost £150 and still didn’t have a computer.

Mobo arrived with some damaged cpu pins that I fixed, but the USB one was missing a pin, which resulted in an error. It sort of booted at first, but none of the USB ports worked. Probably going to avoid ASUS in the future. The one benefit is that I bought it off Amazon, so they handled the refund and return process, should’ve gotten a different brand at the time.

I used to think this would never happen to me. In probably 15 years, across many builds, it hadn’t ever happened. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve *had* parts I needed to RMA, but they were all due to *later* failures during the warranty period.
Then earlier this year, it happened. I got sent a defective 2TB Kingston KC3000. Man, that was stressful. Spent around 8 hours just troubleshooting it – mainly because since the m.2 slots were covered by my video card, in order to release the latch for the card, I had to remove the massive CPU cooler (an NH-D15). Must’ve done it around 5 times (thank goodness PTM 7950 is highly reusable), even tried ALL of the other PCIe slots at least twice with two pcie to M.2 adapters.
I was so annoyed at the experience that I opted for a refund instead of a replacement. Ended up *not* adding storage.

I had an entire build last year with the new AM5 platform. Day 1 of building it was extremely unstable and would just crash randomly. Ended up returning my motherboard, ram, cpu and just used my old stuff and it worked perfectly fine lol

Had my first build PC last year in August, worked fine till the week of Christmas. Suddenly PC didn’t boot up and I tried lots of troubleshooting (too long to mention every steps). I waited till the holidays are over before sending my motherboard and CPU to the PC shop for RMA. It worked fine for them, but not when I rebuild my system.
More troubleshooting, trying out a new DDR5 kit and some more frustrations, I send my whole PC via mail to the PC shop (on the side of the country). They found the culprit, CPU was broken. Got it replaced under warranty and I only had to pay for research/test costs of the computer (because it was not a pre-build, fair).
A month without PC sucks. Of course I used my smartphone and “old” PS4 in my free time, but a PC is just so much more versatile.

Yep. Current build had a DOA core on the CPU. Machine would post and start to boot, since that all happens on core 0, but as soon as the OS tried to start up SMP, the whole machine would hang. Took me a bit to diagnose that.

When I did build it it took almost 5 hours bc I was so nervous and when I hit that power button and it didn’t start my heart stopped, but luckily I just forgot to flip the switch on the psu.

Oh yes. My dumb ass bought a RX 580 8gb off eBay thinking I was gonna build that month. 8 months later I discovered it was sold DOA when I tried to run my pc. It’s now an apartment decoration.
