After the terrible release of the unfinished game last year that left most players very disappointed, I’ve also walked away from the game to wait and see if things get better.

Since there have been quite a few updates and patches in the past year and as things are getting stable now, I got back into the game a weeks ago to gave it another try, and I wanna say the game is pretty amazing now! Almost all problems we saw from the early release were fixed and now we have a well polished well balanced WWII competitive RTS game as it is suppose to be, with a very interesting single player campaign.

It is nice to see the player count improving but it is definitely far from justifying the game quality at the moment, thus I think some advocates for the game is nice. If you are waiting to get back to it or is looking for a tactical RTS game to play, I would certainly recommend give it a try now!

Totally agree. It is a fantastic RTS now, and one of the best in the smaller and smaller RTS market. What else we got? Age of Empire 4 which is also a Relic’s game, and Company of Heroes 3, that’s it. Of course there are Warno/Steel Divisions which are not strictly RTS but more of real time tactic, and some of the old games like StarCraft.

To be honest, it is Sad to see the RTS genre getting smaller and smaller, compared to what it once was 20 years ago..but, yeah, company of heroes 3 is definitely one of the best nowadays.

Men of War 2 is still a mess tho, apparently.

is the campaign decent? thinking about picking it up on sale, but i’ll likely only play thru that.

Yeah it’s launch was better than coh2s but it was so long ago people don’t remember how bad coh2s launch was

  5. I thought the campaign was pretty good on launch, though I haven’t played it since. How is it looking nowadays?

  6. It got a lot better since launch. It’s getting there 🙂 the single player is pretty good.

i loved company of heroes 2 but still have nighmares of coh3 free playtest before lounch

Is the total war style campaign still only single player?

  9. Smrgling

It’s much better now, but it still isn’t as good as CoH2, which should really be the bar.

Does the game feature bases or did they go for the DoW2 CoH2 route?

It’s one of the things that stuck in my craw.

Completely forgot of the game existence. Good to know it’s in a great state now, might pick it up for the campaign.

Unless you want to play on console where Relic announced they are not going to support it any further after they split from Sega.

And I realize that very few people play RTS on console, but CoH3 actually plays very well on PS5 and there are at least a few of us who were enjoying it up until that announcement.

I watched some tourney vods and it really did seem like CoH1 all over again (which is ideal)

You only get one shot at a first impression. The game reviewed poorly, I’m slow to forgive.

Is there a lot of good AI games for me to play against, or is the AI still pretty braindead?

Have you played the game on console and if so, what are your thoughts on it? I don’t really have a good PC so I’ll most likely play it on console if it’s as good there.

Is it still just racing for command points?

  18. dsmithcc

It’s too bad they didn’t wait to release it in a better state im not sure they will recover in the consumer eyes.

never played company of heroes but I’ve been looking for a good rts. would it be worth playing the 2nd one to see how I like it? I see it on sale on steam for $5, but it’s also a 10 year old game

  20. Few_Individual_7306

Is anyone playing on ps5 and having a good experience with it?

  21. Cleverbird

Dang, surprised the game is still being sold for full price. Would’ve expected the price to have dropped by now, considering its almost 2 years old at this point.

Honestly, hate me if you want but I’d be down for an iOS release. CoH on iPad is legitimately pretty fun and can whip it out in all sorts of random long trips etc…

I just find with work and all that I don’t find the time to do proper sit down rts

You’ve posted this several times so I was wondering if you were a boy until I scrolled and saw your post about the >! Bangladeshi officials being hung off a bridge!< So you’re either very active for a new account or Relic has some crazy ass marketing strategies lmao

I am getting tired of this narrative “yeah it was a sack of shit at launch, but now is good!”, well, you had my attention and dropped the ball, don’t care any more, I ain’t rewarding studios who lauch half baked games.
